Cann beating Dero, already named to the MLS Best XI, for MVP is ..... interesting.

Accurate. Both had essential upsides, but Cann had no real downside.

Great to see! Cann doesnt get nearly enough credit. Everyone talks about Frei making all the great saves, Dero for all the goals. But the defensemen are always looked past. If they do their job right, you barely even notice them.

Great choice.

Goes to show you never listen to what people "say" on the internet. When TFC was in the process of signing Cann, someone on this board dubbed him "the Canadian Nick Garcia". Now he's the team MVP.

I think he's a great choice for MVP, particularly with TFC's struggles at his position. Tailed off a little at the end of the year though, but so did most players on the team. I wonder if he did enough to garner some interest back in Europe?

I'm not down on Cann al all, but I highly, highly doubt it. He was the best defender on a team with terrible defense. He's not among the best in this league so I doubt that anyone in Europe is looking at him. Having said that, we're always at risk of losing even average players to Denmark and Norway...

He did have a great season, he came close to taking my vote for our man of the year. In the end I did go with Frei, but Cann had a great year for sure, congrats to him! Glad to see him get some recognition

I'm pretty sure he's a free agent.

I was thinking about Denmark specifically with his history over there. If I was a MLSer and got an offer from Denmark, I'd go player there. It's quite good football. Obviously, Copenhagen is class unto themselves, but a lot of the smaller teams are good. Midtjylland ain't half bad.

He wins MVP because his contract is up and we dont have a replacement:rolleyes:MLSE:rolleyes: DeRosario is looking for "DP money" and its cheaper to resign Cann than apease DeRo:rolleyes:MLSE:rolleyes:

Oooooooooooooyy!:picard:

Congrats to Cann!!!:hump::D

I'm a little surprised Stefan didn't win it, but all credit to Adrian- he had a solid season and kept the back 4 tighter than we dared hope.

Let the "best vs. most valuable" debate begin.....

is this as voted on by staff and management, or by players ?

Let the "best vs. most valuable" debate begin.....

I'm not arguing the merits. I'd like to know how many guys in world football history have scored 50% of their teams goals, and not been the MVP.

My real point isn't about Cann vs Dero. It's about the signalling from the FO.

Well deserved. There is no denying that he was an incredible acquisition this year. Without Cann would could have very well been DC United this year. I had my reservations before the season started about him but I'll admit when I'm wrong and boy was I ever wrong about him.

He lives in the building next to mine and I bumped into him after the Columbus game (around the time his nose was broken/injured). I told him I hope he sticks around as well and he said he hopes they can work something out as well.

Really friendly guy and a class act. Congrats on the MVP.

I voted for him for RPB MOTY. He really held our back line together and for the most part kept them organized - probably the best I've seen in TFC's 4 years.

Glad he's getting recognized for what he's done this year.

I think Frei deserved it, but congrats to Cann. At first I was not stoked about his signing, but he really played great this year.

Don't get me wrong, I really like Cann and the stability he has brought to our back four, but DERO is the mvp, no question.

Upon sleeping on it I think TFC got this one right.

No way DeRo deserves it....DeRo cares about himself far more than his team or teammates, and plus DeRo took quite a few games off, whereas Cann played all-out all the time...IMO Frei should have got it but I'm happy for Cann....

Cann was a monster in the air in particular... won almost every aerial battle...

He was soooo much better than I remembered him with Vancouver.

I would have to give it to Dero, the most difficult thing in football is scoring goals and he scored plenty last season. Cann had a great season but for me Dero's contribution was greater. If Dero hadn't been playing then TFC would not have scored many goals at all. Dero scored more than a goal in every two games in the MLS last season, you cannot really argue with that as a return. He also achieved his best ever goals per game ratio ever in his entire MLS career for a team that sucked real bad, he had a big season!

Sorry, but De Ro provided the most to this club out of anyone.

Do you know what the best part about Cann winning MVP is? The man is probably the nicest player I have met at TFC in the team's entire existance. And that is saying something because some really great guys have come and gone from this team. But this guy is really down to earth and genuinely a gentle giant.

Cann? Are you freaking kidding me? Jesus fuck, without DeRo TFC would be shittier than they were fuck my Facebook FIFA team would be better! Just because DeRo wants to get paid and Cann is a "nice guy" Cann deserves to be the MVP? LOL wow.

I'd just like to add to this, while waiting for my friend to show up to the MLS Cup last night outside gate 1 ~8:35 Adrian Cann ran out and gave me 3 tickets in upper 111 completely out of the blue even though I had said I already had a pair for the game. I can't speak highly enough of him - a true class act!

Don't get me wrong, I really like Cann and the stability he has brought to our back four, but DERO is the mvp, no question.

DeRo was BY FAR the best player on our team this year, but his antics turned a lot of people off. If people didn't vote for DeRo on principal, then Cann and Frei were the only two who could realistically be considered. If politics didn't play a roll in things, DeRo would have won hands down.
