Who would you like to take a stroll down memory lane with for the MLS All-Star game? After 3EB taking the stage in Seattle last year performing such hits of yester-years like Hows It Going To Be, I was thinking what retro act would be fun to see take the stage at BMO on that cold winter night by the lake that is coming up in a few weeks.

With Mathew Good taking the stage for the pre-game fun who would you like to see come halftime. I was thinking a rendition of I alone by live would be great, but then they just went on a break, then there is the great Faith No more, so many choices, who shall they pick?

Since the MLS Cup is in Canada, lets reunite the Headstones, the greatest Canadian rock band of the 90s.

You can never go wrong with the Hip or even Rush. Get Geddy out of Skydome (that's its name and always will be) and let loose with Tom Sawyer, the song still holds up well after all these years.

Rush would have to get a nod as one of the most succesfuul Canadian rock acts of all time.

However, Gordon Lightfoot would be my #1 choice.

They wouldn't get Neil Young, he could draw more fan interest than the game itself :) However it would be a great time to break out the "Long May You Run" chant.

It would be great having him perform at any TFC game, centre field at half time.

Holy fuck the Killer Dwarves, now you are taking me back. Reminds me of summer nights chilling on Belmont Lake, drinking to many beer, going to the Hastings Howl. Throw in Brighton Rock and Helix, then you've got the makings of a True 705 party, work boots, pick up trucks and all.

You probably won't talk RUSH into playing but you could probably get Triumph.
Here's what others are doing...

Gord Downie is playing Sherbrooke on the 21st
Loverboy plays Casino Rama on the 23rd, they probably have a clause in the contract to not play anywhere close before the show (Casino Rama is known for that)
Gowan may be available as the Styx tour ends in Atlanta on the 13th
GLASS TIGER are playing a "Private Function" on the 20th and may be available.
APRIL WINE'S bass player died on November 5th, not sure if they are continuing the tour.
TROOPER is in BC on the 13th and Edmonton on the 30th
THE KINGS - It appears their last show was a year ago.
ANVIL - Playing LA on November 4th
GORDON LIGHTFOOT - in Montana on the 20th
Bryan Adams - in Colorado on the 13th and Kitchener on the 28th (kind of wierd 2 week hole in his tour)
BARENAKED LADIES - Bridgeport CT on the 20th.

------------

ARCADE FIRE - Spain on the 21st
TOKYO POLICE CLUB - Germany on the 21st
ALEXISONFIRE - UK on the 12th in BC on the 26th
BILLY TALENT - appear available

For a show: KISS - their music's known not to be the greatest but they'll have a few hundreds of fireworks, flares and smoke bombs. Probably have a laser show while the fireworks are going off. Great for a football match, maybe they can give us a few flares..lol..lol.

Canadian content: RUSH - great Canadian band (just watched their bio on TMN/HBO) The band LOVES Toronto and IMHO I don't think it would be hard to get them unless their busy. But what do I know.

ICON: Neil Young - A lot of TFC supporters are fans and a lot of casuals are fans...like somebody already said "he'll be bigger than the event"..lol..lol. and he's CANADIAN on top of that

My pick (will never happen): Guns and Roses (original band) and/or ACDC...lol..lol..lol. They can change TNT to TFC..lol..lol.

Hey Oldtimer:

I loved that song, did you ever see them live with the giant mirror ball coming down from the rafters when they played it?

So, here's my thinking. Triumph just release a greatest hits album and a series of box sets, and there is talk of them touring in 2011. It could be benificial for them to do a show before Christmas to sell CD's and maybe show people that they can still play live.

Never saw it live... only on TV (yes, they had a TV special back in the day). They were pretty big at the time.
