Kinda feel like Its Called Football was hinting at him coming (perhaps as a consultant) in their last interview with him. Im interested but not certain hes the savior.

Just listened. It sounds as if he's a definite interview for the position. I wouldn't say prospect yet, though.

We could do worse. The guy built the Fire in to a Champion in 1 year. We're basically an expansion team next year anyway with the rebuilding that needs to be done and he seems to know how to get the job done. Apparently he's big on transparency and was loved by the Fire fans. If he gets the job I think he'll be able to bridge the gap with supporters that Mo's built.

where he invented Schlabst (http://www.redpatchboys.ca/w/index.php?title=Schlabst&action=edit&redlink=1). A mixture of bottled Schlitz beer and canned Pabst, poured into a pint glass.

This is the man, I have been following MLS since the league started and what Wilt did in Chicago that expansion year was simply amazing, hire this guy now MLSE and lets get on with it!

Anyone who's president and CEO of an indoor team right now, on the sheer strength of the lack of financial propriety in that sector of the game, shouldn't even be remotely considered.

The indoor game is full of sharks, promoters and shuysters, all trying to get a chunk of investment coin. That's what this reeks of. Could be wrong, and Chicago fans liked him, but this seems very small time.

If we're going to hire a consultant, I'd rather it be someone with an international rep. As Hans Backe has demonstrated in New York, MLS experience is not the issue, recognizing affordable talent is the key issue.

I'll bet you a steak if he's involved, he contacted the team, not the other way around (or had a friend mention his name).

Between the inevitable self-promoters, schmoozers and agencies like First Wave, the smartest thing Anselmi et al could right now is stop taking calls for a while and do some legwork of their own.

Unfortunately, the last four years do not suggest smart options will be on the table.

I like Wilt and I think he has good ideas. He certainly has a viewpoint and some experience in how to run a team. Some may call him a visionary. However he comes with significant past history baggage, mainly with a number of MLS bigwigs and the current Fire owners/FO. Not sure that is even relevant for us but to the extent that the FO has to deal with the league..., etc etc.

He would be good as a consultant, I have serious doubts that he could get through two years as GM.

Basically this would be a coup.

He was fired from Chicago due to the sponsorship side of things. When he had the gig there, soccer wise the team was built well. The other side of the GM there was that he was also responsible for revenue generation. From what I was told when that happened, they just built the new stadium and weren't getting enough $$$ from it.

He's in indoor soccer because he went onto the women's league and was GM of their group in Chicago, he soon left that to go to indoor soccer.

He's a very well respected person in the league. He would be much different than any other MLSE GM that ever has been around at any of their sporting properties. If you read what Nolan Ryan did this past week for the playoffs at the Rangers, you would see things like that in Chicago with Peter Wilt. The guy is class and I think the supporters would be very happy to have someone that believes in supporters as well.

... re: TFC, .....if true, nothing more than a consultant's role...

Rec'd an email today from a Chicago friend.

"Last week the league approved the addition of the Chicago Riot for the 2010-11 season. Peter Wilt, who has previously led successful Chicago soccer teams in the NPSL (Power), MLS (Fire) and WPS (Red Stars), is a part owner of the Riot and will serve as the team’s President, CEO and official spokesperson."
