The Toronto Raptors will this season discover the lesson learned by Toronto FC: subliminally suggesting that “at least we’re not the Maple Leafs” no longer works as a marketing strategy.:D

Saga continues....

too bad about Cann... what a shitty way to end your season. Alan Gordon was getting bossed around by Cann in that game and then the pussy took it out on Cann.

Hope it doesn't hurt Cann's modelling career ;)

Dasovic talks about character and wanting to be here. What about the awful tactics? Entertaining soccer isnt entertaining when you are getting destroyed.

Newsflash, your backline is slow. Letting opposing teams run at them is recipe for disaster. The space you leave between the mid and defense is atrocious.

Anyone who was associated with the Dale Mitchell debacle should not be allowed to coach.

Go away.

Sounds like the rumors about Angel leaving Red Bulls could be true

Angel to leave New York after season
October 14, 8:26 pm ET

Upper Montclair, NJ (Sports Network) - Red Bull New York striker Juan Pablo Angel confirmed on Thursday he will not be with the club next year, according to a report on Major League Soccer's website.

"I know that I won't be a part of this team next year," Angel said, according to the MLS website. "For a fact."

Angel mentioned Tuesday when he was a studio analyst for the United States vs. Colombia match on ESPN2 that he "probably won't" return to New York next year.

Angel is tied for third in MLS this year with 13 goals, and is New York's all- time leading scorer. Angel, one of New York's three designated players, added Thursday "it is part of the sport," regarding his departure from the team.

"When I first came here, I promised I'd commit myself [to the Red Bulls]," Angel said. "I want to give my best for a chance to walk out of here with an MLS championship."

New York currently leads the Eastern Conference entering the final two weeks of the season, has a playoff spot secured and can finish no lower than second. The Red Bulls visit the Philadelphia Union on Saturday.

We need to sign Juan Pablo Angel.

Proven striker but is he over the hill is the question.

I'd prefer we go after someone in his 20s from Latin America, than someone who is rapidly approaching retirement.

Seattle was able to do it, and I'm sure there are a couple more teams in this league (probably LA - not familiar with their LAmerican players ages) that did it.

It's a bit of a conundrum. The top top top guys will still want to go to Europe.

But Argentina and Brazil have plenty of guys who are 26-30 kind of range who have gone to europe and failed but are brutally effective in their leagues which means MLS should be up their alley.

Issue is that while Angel is getting old he's still in good form. I don't think giving him a two year DP contract is out of the question.
