I can't believe that MLSE pays people to cheer. I hope we never see something like this at BMO.

Where does it say that MLSE pays people to cheer?

The article suggests that he's worked at Leafs games before...so therefore I believe it would be MLSE footing the bill.

Baseball teams like the Toronto Blue Jays and the Los Angeles Dodgers pay him an average of $2,000 a game to do his thing, as do N.B.A. teams like the L.A. Lakers and New Orleans Hornets and N.H.L. teams like the Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs. All told, he works about 80 to 90 major- and minor-league games (http://www.portfolio.com/careers/job-of-the-week/2008/03/17/Team-Owner-Frank-Boulton) a year, and difficult as it may be to believe, Hughes makes a comfortable six-figure salary just by being a crazy sports fan.

He's done wonders for the atmosphere at ACC; I hear someone cheered last year.

He also does motivational speaking gigs. I remember him coming to my high school about 10 years ago. Pissed me off too, one of the classes I ended up missing that afternoon was gym class which I always looked forward to. When the class would play indoor soccer my girlfriend had a nasty habit of always aiming her shots at my happy bits. May not sound like lots of fun, but she'd always make up for it after school, and since both her parents worked in London they'd never be home until after 6, which left us with 2 hours a day to try and find ways to occupy our time.

Sometimes I really miss high school.

perhaps the idiots who pay the idiots who pay the idiot are in fact the bigger idiots?

He's done wonders for the atmosphere at ACC; I hear someone cheered last year.

That was me. Sorry.

I love getting platinums from work and making a shitload of noise there. The number of times I've been told to shut up at Leafs games...

At least the kids in front of our corporate seats love me.

Out of curiosity, is Cash using Sure deodorant? I've never seen the dude with his arms down...

So how is this different from a capo????? Hmmm??

James Oliphant
06-28-2008, 03:52 AM
Because...capos aren't paid by the club? And capos aren't REQUIRED to generate noise at BMO Field, as this guy apparently is at Leafs and Hornets games.

Here`s another `professional fan`...`Crazy` Claude Scott

e_9ZM4-idY8

The falling-over-the-boards bit is standard practice. As is the head-banging. Claude`s a great guy...I`ve seen him at many a Hamilton Bulldogs game. That video of him is from Geneva. Yes, the one in Switzerland.

that is so sad that those teams need to pay a guy to get fans into the game!
