Hi all, first post here, so please be kind.

Quick intro first. I am from England and have lived here since 1998. (STH in 224, row 21)

OK, so since flares are not permitted, how about red glow sticks? It would have the potential for looking really good at night games. There are many Canadian wholesale sellers.

1 example is here

http://glowproducts.com/specials/#app=specialprod_GS006US

An idea for a group buy?

Perhaps for later in the season when the sun sets earlier.
Right now it's still daylight for the whole game.
(personally I think TFC should have a glow stick giveaway day later in the year)

then again... they probably won't because they would assume half of them will end up on the pitch after a goal.

Yes indeed...

If the rest of you RPBs would check the Banners/Choreo section more often you would know :D

If everyone in the south stands would do the Arnold Rave moves at the exact same time with the glow sticks it would look sick on tv...

Hmm...

I think August 23rd is still too early in the year for this to be effective.
We're totally screwed here... that's the only night game we have left after July!
What we really needed was an evening match in late September or beyond... playoffs perhaps??

Well if we start "dancing" at the end of the 2nd half it could work.
Then their's also the Champions League match in late August. Could do it during the Canada match as well... Atleast pretty much everyone would be in the south end for that.
Haha that would be complete jokes. :canada:

Dragging a thread back from the dead,

Some old comments mentioned using this at a night game. The home opener is now a night game.

As a major side note, I am a manager at a kids birthday place and I have been checking out wholesale prices for streamers and red glow sticks, and I think I can get a really good price. If there is enough interest, I would be willing to make a bulk buy purchase and pass the savings on to everyone (much cheaper than Dollarama).

I can post again before the weekend with costs and to gauge interest.

got news for you guys..... there are REALLY bright lights on the field.
We're not at madison square gardens where they play in the light and you sit in the dark, it's almost bright as day in the stands.

glow sticks of any size would barely be noticeable.

So, I can take a hint that glow sticks were a bad idea:facepalm:

On the streamers side of things, I would be able to get a bulk purchase of the standard 81 ft streamers and be able to pass them on at a cost of $1.50 for 12. Would there be enough interest to make a bulk purchase, or should I let this thread go back to it's grave?

I remember seeing them get tossed during the CCL match.
And while I don't think beer tossers are good, that keeper definitely deserved it.

Yeoman

it's standard SOP for MLS matches.
it's also the same for CCL matches, but they're a little less stringent on the rulings there.
there was people thrown out of matches last year for throwing streamers.

Nevermind security, the Cops will be all over him.

And that really is the issue. We can deal with the poorly trained BMO security guards (they'd probably shit their pants if we lit up a decent amount of them anyway) but we wouldn't be able to escape the Cops.

Maybe I am a pessimist, but I don't see the cops reacting to well to this at all.

Also there is an INSANE about of police presence at TFC games. They are everywhere.

Also as Brooker said, that would be a one time deal as pat downs would come the next week for sure.

Is it worth this much hassle? I am leaning to no.

You'll probably still get caught when the people around you point you out to security. The lighting flares is not allowed in MLS stadiums and we don't condone breaking those rules. We've already had someone badly burned and had damage done to our pitch.
