The lack of information available on MoJo's time with us in Toronto is really poor:

On 22 August 2006, Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maple_Leaf_Sports_%26_Entertainment) (MLSE); owners of MLS club Toronto FC (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toronto_FC), announced Johnston as Head Coach beginning their inaugural 2007 season (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_Toronto_FC_season). Johnston has the dubious distinction of coaching Toronto FC through two records of futility: the MLS longest goalless streak at 824 minutes and the longest goalless streak to begin the season at 558 minutes.[citation needed (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)] Before the start of the 2008 season (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_Toronto_FC_season), it was announced that Johnston was moving upstairs to fill the role of Director of Football (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Director_of_Football), though he retained the title of manager, while John Carver (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Carver_%28footballer%29) took over coaching duties at the time.[11] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mo_Johnston#cite_note-Director-10)
Mo Johnston has earned himself the name "Trader Mo" because in the first half of the first season alone he had traded 9 players.[12] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mo_Johnston#cite_note-Trader-11) Throughout his MLS managerial career though, Johnston has developed a reputation of proficiency for drafting (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MLS_SuperDraft) players, such as, Jozy Altidore (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jozy_Altidore), Marvell Wynne (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvell_Wynne_%28soccer%29), Maurice Edu (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maurice_Edu), Stefan Frei (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stefan_Frei), O'Brian White (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/O%27Brian_White), and Sam Cronin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sam_Cronin), among others.[citation needed (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)]

Apparently, in four years with Toronto he led a losing season, got a promotion, traded a bunch of guys and is a draft day wizard.

I know some are chomping at the bit to get back at Mo, consider this one possible way.

Johnston's tenure has been controversial amongst supporters of Toronto FC. His appointment of three different coaches over the three years as "Director of Soccer," combined with a failure to reach the playoffs in each year and a high player turnover has not enamoured him to fans of the team.

But really, when it's stated so clearly you have to wonder WHY he got the job in the first place and HOW he kept it so long?

What's the point in blaming a guy who took a job he wasn't qualified for? It was offered and he took it.

If that's as far as any protest goes you can practically hear MLSE laughing - I guess laughing all the way to the bank is the expression, but this whole TFC seems like an experiement in how far fans can be pushed and a company still make a profit.

It feels like some guys made a bet, like in that movie Trading Places....

Are you saying that Mo is our very own Billy Ray Valentine? (although a less successful one).

Can someone please add "After failing to make the play offs for the fourth consecutive season in 2010 and each season in TFC's history to date, Johnston was fired by MLSE amid joyous scenes among Toronto FC's supporters".

I would, but have no clue what I'm doing with Wikipedia. If we've set a record for longest time taken for an expansion side to make the post season, then let's add that too.

EDIT - dear God this post makes depressing reading... :(

Ha ha, yeah, he's one of the few guys at MLSE not in on the bet.

I think it went like this:

"Soccer fans are different."
"No they're not."
"Yes, they are, soccer fans aren't the same as Leafs fans."
"Sure they are, we could start a soccer team and put John Ferguson Junior in charge and sell the place out for years. Let the fans run guys out of town and give big contracts to their favourites."
"No way."
"How much you wanna bet?"

What was the bet, a dollar?

And where's Jamie Lee Curtis?
