We sometimes over-estimate MLS players like DeRo when the CMNT has a good supply of European players. They won quite handily without them.

We should all be happy, despite our losing team. MLSE is doing well. The Real Sports Bar and Grill has been named the "best" sports bar :

Here's the star's article on the canada game, that appeared in the print edition.

Canada ends drought with win over Honduras

Josh Simpson and Kevin McKenna scored in the first half as Canada ended an eight game winless run with a rain interrupted 2-1 vistory over Honduras in a firendly match Tuesday at Saputo stadium.

That's it! absolutely pathetic! there's half a page including a big photo about euro 2012 qualifiers, but Canada? nah, no-one really cares about that.

Canada's offensive form looked much better against Honduras than Peru but I think the switch to a 4-3-3 formation was the main reason. I think DeRo would have blended in very well with the attacking style of football that was on display last night.

I was impressed with Canada's forwards though and it's good to see that the CMNT has decent depth. Simeon Jackson and Josh Simpson would look good on the wings for TFC...

Yep, we looked a lot more effective up front yesterday, I'm not saying it's De Ro's fault at all, or that Canada's better off without him, but having Simpson and Jackson out wide supporting Friend worked really well.

The Whitecaps player, Dunfield? filled in very nicely for De Guzman as well.

Let's not forget that Peru is a substantially superior team to Honduras. Yes, Honduras made it to the World Cup, only because CONCACAF has 3 automatic slots. If Honduras had to fight for that spot, I don't believe they would have beaten a CONMEBOL opponent.

In my opinion, the change in tactics along with a lower quality team led to the difference in result. I don't believe it had anything to do with the different roster that was sent out there.

This I will agree....we field the samelineup we did on saturday and change to the formationlast night and I think we still win last night's match...Peru's squad is far superior to Honduras in my opinion.

The problem is every time TFC loses without JDG people jumpt all over the board talking about how it was JDG that we were missing. So just for that reason, I'll say that Canada is a better team without JDG :). Sorry, just felt like saying that.

Looking at this, I've decided what my two biggest pet peeves with BMO are:
W
1) NO ROOF
2) How unsymmetrical it is.

Why can't our Four stands have the same slopes and rows?

I don't think so. De Rosario's poor form of late is hurting TFC and I think he looks better for the CMNT coming off the bench at this point. The CMNT plays better with some tactical discipline, and DDR's freelancing isn't being offset by his magic enough to justify his floating role at the international level any more.

Here's a funny one:

In a feature for the Sabotage Time website, ex-Spurs and Arsenal midfielder Rohan Ricketts highlights the temptations facing young football stars, and recalls how girls would sometimes hide in players hotel rooms ahead of matches.

Not good for team discipline, but honestly, is anybody surprised? This affects all sports, from golf, to hockey, to NFL, to football.

The CSA designed the stadium. :picard:

What about the north stand that came after? They could have easily matched either the east or west stands in height at the very least. They just wanted to have more seats.

Fucking idiots at the star. They're so retarded sometimes. They have this huge article about how Canada sucks, then when Canada wins, they dont give credit.

Talk about trying to manipulate news.

You hear the interview at half time and our player said it was sad to see such poor attendance and to see that most of the crowd is cheering for the other team? (basic message being passed there)

Fly our flag, stand for our national anthem, and cheer for our team or we'll reassess your citizenship, and deportation is always an option. We don't care where you're from, you're here now. Like it or leave it. Is this France or Canada??? :)

Problem is, if the Hondurans, from Canada/u.s.honduras/wherever didn't show up, there'd probably have been less then 3,000 there, same with the Peru game, if not for the "away" fans, it would have been less than 5,000.

It's not the peruvian/honduran-Canadians that are the problem, it's the everywhere else-canadians not showing up. And yeah, Simpson looked seriously bummed out about it. You'd think they'd be used to it by now, though maybe they were expecting better in t.o after the jamaica game.

to be honest, as much as I love TFC and sing the anthem at every game (including the CCL) I have no interest in watching the national team live. I hope they win every game (apart from when they play Scotland) but I have no attachment to the players the way I have developed with the hockey team or even the Olympic squad. Can't think of a reason why, maybe it's the fact they ply their trade in lower leagues abroad just now and I don't get exposure to them but I find residents going to cheer for the other team over them when they have no attachment to said team to be sickening

Actually, based on several accounts from yesterday's game, at least half of the 7,500 fans in attendance last night were supporting Canada. That's still not a huge number of people, but it's a marked improvement over two years ago, when about 3/4 of the fans in attendance were wearing Honduran blue.

I used to always watch them back in the 90s - team with Alex Bunbury, Dale Mitchell, Frank Yallop etc, and they were decent to watch- likewise the Gold Cup winning team. I must admit I've somewhat given up on them since as the CSA also seems to have done.

I enjoyed last night's match and we played some decent football. I'd love Canada to make it to Brasil in 2014, let's hope we are good enough this time.
See you saturday no doubt.
