More on TFC's schedule and the CCL:

The fourth MLS representative, Toronto FC, hasn’t fared quite so well in league play, but it did manage to beat Mexican power Cruz Azul in its CCL opener. However, starting Saturday in Dallas it plays plays eight games – six in the league, two in Concacaf – in 22 days, and will face RSL once in each competition.

“You have to look at a lot of things,” says TFC coach Preki about juggling lineups for different competitions and also losing players to national-team duty, which will plague TFC this weekend with four players gone. “You want guys to rest but they all want to play unless they are so injured they cannot play.

“That is why we are always talking to the players about mental toughness, and challenging them every day in training physically and mentally. The schedule is crazy, but you always look for a chance to give players some minutes because when a player is injured and another one is suspended, what do you do? You might need that player for a big game, and if he’s not ready and you have nobody else, you’re in trouble.”

TFC doesn’t play in the U.S. Open Cup, in which many MLS coaches use their backups, yet it did have to play four Nutrilite Canadian Championship matches to qualify for the CCL preliminaries, which consisted of home and away matches with Motagua of Honduras. This month, it heads to the Estadio Azul for the return match and has trips to Chicago and Salt Lake City as well as Dallas in league action.

FC Dallas - Toronto FC: Head To Head Preview

Individually, kudos must be given to Ty Harden, who played in consecutive matches for the first time this season. Stepping in for the suspended Nana Attakora, Harden fit seamlessly into TFC’s back line and was instrumental in keeping Alvaro Saborio and the rest of the champs' attack at bay. Win or no win, a clean sheet is always impressive.

I'd like to make an observation: Tomorrow we see a Canada home game and a TFC away game. The news is almost all Canada.

Riding the coat tails of TFC, Canada is beginning a journey to get the respect any National squad deserves.

Get to the game.

A certain English player is back:

David Beckham says he will be back to play with the LA Galaxy on September 11th, against the Columbus Crew, a month ahead of the date when his doctors had said he would be fit to play. “I’ll keep my fingers crossed and hopefully will play in part of the game against Columbus,” said the midfielder. “I’ll be on the bench and hopefully I’ll get on the field for 15-20 minutes,” he told the Galaxy website.

Just watching Fox Soccer Report and they said that Chicago have scheduled a press conference for 1.00pm today to make a major announcement. Rumour is that it could either be Brian McBride announcing his retirement or a major player signing.

^^ my money is on McBride. If it was a player signing they would have said a "Major Player Signing Announcement".

Riise: Wants MLS move

John Arne Riise has revealed that he intends to head to the MLS once he severs ties with Roma.

The Norwegian full-back is under contract with the Italian giants until 2012 and is set to discuss an extension to that agreement later this month.

Riise is confident fresh terms will be thrashed out, allowing him to prolong his stay in Serie A.

He does, however, believe that the deal will be his last in Europe, as he is keen to take in a spell in America before he hangs up his boots.

"My contract with Roma? We will talk about it again at some point in September," the 29-year-old told Vg Nett.

Future

"I think the monetary issue and the length of the deal will be a formality.

"In my future I see myself playing for Roma for a few more years and then heading to the United States.

"I really want to play in the USA, it is a dream I have had for a long time.

"I have not thought about a club yet, but where David Beckham is playing (Los Angeles Galaxy) seems like a nice place to live."

As for Canada, I have 0 interest in watching them play. I didn't even realize the game was this weekend, that's how interested I am and they play in Toronto. It's gonna take alot to get me interested again, thank you CSA.
