I don't know if this has been posted elsewhere, but I just stumbled across this on YouTube. It was back at the start of the fifth season of the Rick Mercer Report in 2007.

Mercer takes part in a TFC training session with Jimmy B, Robbo, and others. Then he hangs out with RPB for a match against Salt Lake. This was in the club's first season.

Didn't Rick steal a scarf that was loaned to him for the photo?

Canadian Blue's scarf if memory serves.

Where did it go? It went where everything "new" goes.

New car smell fades.
Newlywed marriages stop shagging every day.
New computers become obsolete.

There is no way to continue the feeling of excitement and novelty that the first year brought. Shoot, we celebrated a last place finish on the pitch. Would we do that this year?

It has nothing to do with RPB and everything to do with the reality of being in year 4 of a mediocre team's play in a mediocre league.

Those days were beyond fun, but I think it's a good thing that they can't be repeated. It's part of history, and we'll all remember the days fondly. Now it's about results - like any other football club. I'm quite content with that.

I remember this too! It was the first TFC match I went to. Met a lot of RPB and U-Sector folk alike.

BTW, if you notice during the match, you'll notice a green and yellow Cape Breton Island flag I brought with me for the match. U-Sector got one, so did Naturegirl.

I liked it so much, I went back to BMO the next morning for the Reserve Division match, a match TFC won 1-0.

And who could forget:

He's tanned!
He's short!
He's got his own report!
Rick Mercer, Rick Mercer!
