I'm very pleased with the Henry signing. With all the gloom about our club, the academy is a bright spot for the future.

Interesting that he was cut from his OSA team. Not the first time that a promising player was cut by them. At least TFC Academy was there for him. There is a certain "Dutch" player who would be playing for Canada if they hadn't had done the same thing with him. Too bad TFC academy wasn't around at that time.

M.A.C. Hermann Trophy, NCAA soccer’s version of the HeismanI'll be glad when soccer is well enough known that we don't see that line in every article about a Hermann winner.

So Canada plays 4th and 7th
TFC play 4th (AT dallas) and 8th?

Ummmmm. . . . . . . . . . MLS cant follow other leagues and offer a break for international play?
WTF?

wow, when you see what Nana, Cann, and Gargan earn, that salaries of Alphabets, Ibrahim, and OBW are somewhat scandalous

The Crew to...wait for it....PROTEST their CCL loss:
http://www.crewxtra.com/live/content/sports/stories/2010/08/26/crew-miffed-with-officiating-in-loss-in-mexico.html?sid=101

Yet that explanation doesn't fit the postgame report submitted to CONCACAF - the governing body for soccer in North and Central America and the Caribbean - which stages the Champions League. In the report, referee Luis Rodriguez said Renteria was issued a yellow card and the goal was disallowed because he entered the field without permission.
Based on the confusion, the Crew filed a protest with CONCACAF after the game.

Even Michael Jordan was cut - he wasn't "good enough" to make his high school team...

I like hearing that Henry was cut, and has now made it. When I hear that about pros, I often think these are the guys with heart & determination...

Easy to quit or take a different road when you're told you're not good enough...

I have high hopes for Henry...

If I recall correctly, he has to be released by his current team to actually join TFC Academy. I think there was mention of that when it was forming, that their were some players who TFC wanted to join, but their teams wouldn't release them.

Hell, even in minor league baseball, rep teams had "contracts" that you signed to say you wouldn't play for another team.

Ibrahim and Frei's salaries can be ignored in any discussion since they are both GA, and most of the salary is paid by Adidas anyways.

OBWs salary is egregious.

MLS' "worst" referee (but an outstanding referee compared to some of the CONCACRAP referees) reffed The Group B match between Joe Public and Municipal.

Probably due to the teams involved and their type of play, there were only 9 fouls called, however he still managed to hand out 2 yellows and a red. No PKs this time.

“He had tears running down his face,” said Beverly, “and I said ‘Doneil, you don’t have to do this. Play sports for fun. But he said, ‘Mom, I have a passion for this. I want to play for Toronto FC’.”

that gave me shivers.

if you read the articles he was "cut' and "in tears." That wasn't a release so he could play for TFCA.

Agreed. People get cut from teams all the time. You can't take it personal, you just have to work harder to achieve your goal.

This seems to be the case here.

I think he is talking about other prospective players.

Players are only tied to a team for one season (indoor or outdoor), so they can always leave after the season is over.

Hell, they could probably leave earlier if they put enough pressure on the club.

Or maybe these were players already tied to other CSL teams??

No, he's indeed referring to Henry (See the bold part). It's true that players need releases, but as the article reveals, Henry was crying about bein' cut.
