MLSsoccer.com: Are there some things you've seen from PPL Park and Red Bull Arena that can be incorporated into Crew Stadium, or is it past that stage?
McCullers: It is what it is. Our stadium has character and a lot of it is built by the fans and the love of the stadium.
We know a roof is something we thought about when we built the stadium. LED boards are something we keep talking about. More theater-style seats are something we talk about. I don’t see those things as something that’s imminent for Crew Stadium.
At some point when we decide are we going to be where we are right now or are we going to be somewhere else? When that decision gets made, then it will be a clearer picture on, "OK, if we’re staying where we are, here’s what need to happen to renovate this stadium and bring it up to standards."
MLSsoccer.com: Has Hunt Sports Group set a time limit?
McCullers: There’s no deadline. It’s when opportunity presents itself – the right location, the right situation. It may be where we are. There’s been some interesting discussions about what of this happens or that happens on the [fairgrounds] site. It’s kind of hard to imagine some of these things, but people dream big and you never know and I never want to count anything out or put a deadline on it.
More recently, the discussion is about trying to find the Crew a home in the Arena District with the existing sports and entertainment properties down there [Note: Nationwide Arena for the NHL’s Blue Jackets; a baseball park for the Class-AAA Clippers, an indoor/outdoor convert venue and numerous restaurants and bars].

Does anyone know Columbus? Is this a better locale?

The arena district is nice. It could be pretty much any city center in North America. Where Crew Stadium is I've seen roaming Pit Bulls.

It's still a lipstick on a pig scenario under the best circumstances though.

Much better location. I mean its still Cowlumbus but from what i've seen of the city on a couple visits there wouldn't be a better location for a new stadium than the Arena District.

Wasn't there talk of moving the Krew to Vegas a while back? Has our bastard child breathed new life into them?

A move into that area would be a big improvement for them.
I think they would see more fans at games.

Not gonna happen. Nobody in their right mind would sink $50MM (minimum) into a new stadium for a club that draws 10-15k a game.

If it gets sent to the voters to approve funding, same story. Nobody gives a shite. (see 10-15k note above)

There was talk of a new stadium and some academy training pitches last year. Went nowhere.

The Crew are in a situation that basically prohibits them from doing anything to the stadium unless going through the county, city, AND fairground officials. They are paving the parking areas as we speak but that had to do more with the people on the fairground committee than the Crew.
Not to mention the city of CBus is not that overall thrilled having the Crew. They had a huge soccer ball on a building:

They were told to take it down because it distracted drivers and ODOT (Ohio Department of Trans) won't allow them to put anything like this on their SSS by the highway for the same reason.

I think I have the solution:

Ladies and gentlemen I give you the Detroit Crew.
