This is from Lee Godfrey's (of Gol TV) twitter. I thought we had confirmed conclusively that Mista was DP? WTF?
@CdnSoccerBlog (http://twitter.com/CdnSoccerBlog) FYI Mista is not a DP on TFC. Julian de Guzman is the club's first and as of right now only DP. he has to be a DP getting paid over $900,000 - there's no other way.

A backbeat - that was my thought too...
Maybe we're wrong...?
TFC Martinez Miguel "Mista" F $ 9 68,736.00 $ 987,337.50
Pretty much confirms that he is a DP.

The only thing I could think of is a pro-rated contract. he came in later so his full year contract price of 968 736 doesn't count.

But didn't bgnewf talk to Michelle whatever (TFC's PR person) and didn't she tell him officially that Mista's a DP?

As per my earlier post, his contract if indeed pro rate is only worth $516, 659.20. If they used 66659.20 in allocation money, then this could mean he is at the league max

That's a good point, and if this really is how much money he's making then no complaints from me. I realize you sometimes have to over pay players a little to get them over here. But if he's making over $1 mill in half a season then that's discusting. That's even more then JDG and pretty much any DP ever aside from the big three (Marquez, Henry and Beckham).
ESPN highlighted Toronto FC as one of the 2 DP teams on the all star game. That pretty much confirmed it as their source most likely would be the MLS.

Yes, he broke the news of the DP status.

But really it's all academic, isn't it?
As long as he keeps scoring/setting up goals I don't really give a hoot what they classify him as.

I'd beg to differ. If he's not taking up a DP slot, we've got one more slot to add one more "big time" player. If he is, then we have one less. Yes, I know we can purchase a third, but I'm talking aggregate.
That matters on the cap line and can matter on the scoreboard, and probably on ticket prices, as well.

Godfrey should tweet the way he presents on television.
