Good review of group A:

http://www.goal.com/en-us/news/114/mexico/2010/08/16/2073694/cinco-de-bueno-five-things-to-look-for-in-concacaf-champion

predicts a Mexican win, probably Cruz Azul.

This review, from a DCU supporting website predicts TFC to finish last in its group:

Preki has Toronto playing the most effective (if not necessarily attractive) soccer they've ever played. However, it's going to take more than that to finish in the top half of a group with two of the top contenders in the entire field. Look for the defense-first mantra that defines Preki's teams to shine through in the CCL even more than it normally does. Preki and his assistants will have been very worried watching Motagua tear TFC apart time and again only to botch the resulting chances, and they'll also be plenty aware that their opponents in this group all have strikers that tend to punish you when given the chance. As a result, I think Toronto will pull back into a shell to try and protect a fragile back four.

from the Academy news:

Former Toronto FC player Andrea Lombardo had several early first half chances but failed to take his opportunities.

"Cruz Azul does not always travel with its top lineup early in this tournament, but standout captain Gerardo Torrado will make the trip."

Thats great news, they arent going to be sending the big guns out here, which will hopefully make it a lot easier to get a goal or two.

So you agree with DCU SG that Panama's Deportivo Arabe Unido will be better placed than us at the end of group stage?

It's always good to see how much some of us believe in our team.

I'm fearing the worst as well to be honest. mainly because of the schedule, we've got our toughest 4 games to start off with before we get to the "easier" home games. I can't help but think we could be more or less out of it before we even get to play those games. At that point, it's an obvious decision to save the best players for mls play, and thus we finish bottom, and have two anti-climactic games to finish it off.

prove me wrong kids, prove me wrong!
