I'm worried about it too. Gargan has been really consistent and Santos was an incredible playmaker down in Honduras.

The Gargan article unneccesarily takes a subtle shot at Adrian Cann, first about how he's been "burned" in the past two games (what about the previous 16 games where he was a rock?). The author also says Cann brings size and Attakora smarts and Garcia veteran guile..... he's probably not taking a shot, but to me it makes it sound like Cann's only positive is size. Cann's smart too and has veteran guile.

Baldomero Toledo (the "worst" ref in MLS) update:

He has refereed 11 MLS matches this year:

227 fouls called: 20.6/match
28 yellow cards: 2.5/match
4 red cards: 0.4/match
3 PKs awarded

TFC has had him twice so far:
June 5 vs. KC (2 red cards, 2 yellow cards, 17 fouls called)
April 15 vs. Philly (1 red card, 4 yellow cards, 1 PK awarded, 16 fouls called)

Most recent match: Chicago v NYRB: 22 fouls, 3 yellow cards.

Writers will write whatever they need to in order to get people to read them. Anyone who knows anything about TFC this season sees and appreciates Cann.

Last match can be argued that it was just as much ball to hand (though honestly his arm probably was a little to far out there) and against KC was the first time this season that Cann missed hit a ball he went up for.

Cann is solid, we all know it. That is just the writer making some comment just to emphasize his point, Gargan's play.

Without a doubt, this guy is the WORST at breaking up the flow of play in games. There is so much shit that is unnecessarily called. It almost makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up when there's a borderline foul (not a cardable one, mind you), followed by a half-second pause and then Toledo's long whistle as he charges to the spot, already grabbing at his fucking pockets.

Do we have any comparable stats with refs in other leaggue? Toledo's seem wildly egregious.

yes, I just wish he didn't have to knock down a guy like Cann to lift Gargan up. Overall, as we know, Cann has been a rock and without him I don't know where we'd be.

Earlier this year, Marrufo was suspended two matches by the USSF for accepting Chicago star Cuauhtemoc Blanco's jersey after a game. In June, he was cited for stopping a game in Houston to administer a water break, and in March he was criticized for allowing play to continue after two D.C. United players suffered head injuries in a collision.
