Three players from TFC Academy are on the team; as well as three from Whitecaps Academy and one from Impact Academy.

Of note, to me at least, is that Matthew Stinson is listed as playing for Winthrop Universtity, instead of with TFC Academy. Anyone have any idea what's going on there... he's still listed on the TFC Academy senior roster.

A good performance (by Chad Barrett) which was his usual bag of effort, strength, unselfish play, a goal and a few missed chances. The extra edge of composure in front of goal is missing but Mo Johnson’s trade for Brian McBride is now looking like a very good piece of business.

yea he signed with winthrop university, so he will be going there after the tournament, and Dominic ROberts was the captain last year of the academy team, theres a few ex academy players, i think between Stinson, Roberts, and Teibert

Yeah, I don't particularly agree with that Barrett statement much. Barrett has had a run of a few good games but it's such a short-sighted thing to do to forget the run of bad games as well. We need to temper enthusiasm with reality.

If you add all competitions this year DeRo has 10 goals, Barrett has 9 goals. His goals per minute rate is better than DeRo's.

He deserves the praise he's getting lately.

What don't you agree with?

Pretty reasonable assessment I think.

No, no, no...Barrett should be getting praise when praise is due and I for one am glad he has a little swagger these days and he is producing.

But I have a problem with this statement:

Mo Johnson’s trade for Brian McBride is now looking like a very good piece of business.

Putting aside the very reasonable possibility that getting Barrett was as good as Mo was going to get out of Chicago, I don't think I will ever agree that the Barrett deal was great for Toronto. Currently, Chad is in good form and producing. But it took 2 seasons and a mindblowing amount of opportunities for him to get to this point. And it's still to be seen whether he can maintain form or not.

My statement is not a negative comment on his current form but rather a reminder that what we went through with Chad should not be forgotten either. It took a fire under his ass in the form of new forwards arriving and possibly taking his job away that moved him to finally get over his hump.

In the end, my opinion of Barrett hasn't changed much. He is a hard-worker not nearly worth the salary he commands. He seems to thrive only when the pressure is off, which means a team has to put other offensive pieces around him for him to produce. He alone cannot carry a team, thus by definition making him a role-player.

Maybe he just needed the right coach. LOL

He has scored some big goals this season though. I think when you mean "pressure is off" is that Barrett is an instinctual goal scorer. If he thinks too much he flubs it, but it's a volley odds are he'll be okay.

And really after DeRo and Barrett can you name the next TFC player with the most goals this season?

I actually can't name a single player who has scored more than 1 goal outside of those two players...I'm sure there is someone, but really...

EDIT: OB White is the only player with more than 1 goal who is NOT Chad Barrett or De Ro. OBW has scored two this season.

You win Regina. LOL

After OBW, there are a handful of guys who have one goal each.
