With two weeks before the transfer window closes, Johnston is active trying to improve his squad.
“We’re looking at something else. We want to keep the group we have together and add a piece. Only one player may potentially leave,” he said.

^ Mo Fucking Johnston. The only person related to TFC who should potentially leave is him.

Wheeler is an idiot. Putting him in this thread is like adding MLS rumours crap. He's never added anything to any football conversation that I've ever heard.

Isn't the concept of "tinkering", adding one or two players at most EXACTLY the position we were in at year end last year?

In MLS, one mistake at the back can cost you a goal. And with the current set up of Toronto, with limited offensive capability (mainly because of style of play) one goal can beat us on any given night.

Now, other teams in the east are showing signs of life - Chicago being potentially the most improved. We always knew Seattle and Houston would at least contend for playoff spots. I believe we are in tough for the remainder of the season. Playoffs are no where near an automatic situation for this team.

Ok, I know this is from Bill Archer, everyone's "favourite" bag of shit here. But he's got an interesting take on this "revival" of the Cosmos (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/blog.php?b=9666). One that doesn't involve rose coloured glasses.

In this episode I recap the loss way to Kansas City. I bemoan our lack of wing play, I make a plea to Mo Johnston to get on the phone and get the team a winger, and I tee up the Motagua game tomorrow evening.

Comments always welcome.

Garber's Reported New $3M Per Year Salary Will Be Up From $2M The MLS BOG has "approved a contract extension for Don Garber that will see him continue to lead the league as commissioner" through '14, according to Tripp Mickle of SPORTSBUSINESS JOURNAL

So Garber makes more himself as an individual than the roster of an entire team? That's disgusting.

Commissioners in pro-sports make unbeleivable money...

Bud Selig (MLB) = $18 million
Gary Bettman (NHL) = $7 million
Roger Goodell (NFL / 2008) = $6.5 million

However, of the three above (just quick google's so they might not be spot on), none of them make more than an entire teams salary - not even close...

With every $$$ needed in the MLS, Garber making such a high salary doesn't seem right to me... Pull in $1M a year, and that leaves $2M more money in the pot to bring in a decent player, or spent on marketing and improving the image of the league...

Personally, if Bud Selig is making $18m, Goodell needs a better agent! :)

he's doing a good job - who cares what his salary is - slowly but surely the cap is rasing - as it should - and he has been pro adding canadian teams - glad he's guiding the ship

I like Garber too - I think he's doing an excellent job...

But $3M just seems a little high to me, based on the economics of the league...

But, if the league continues to grow, and franchises become stable, and TV numbers rise (that is key) then he'll be worth every penny...

Its a slow process (going to fast & it'll crash), but slow and steady wins the race...

Yeah that's hilarious... kinda messed up logic though when you think about it, no?

To show his disapproval of the guy in blue running onto the field, the Dynamo fan throws him back onto the field? :D

I personally think Ibbey goes before OBW. Only if it's a trade situation though.

If it's an outright release to get a spot then I'm gonna go with Hscanovic.

+1. What is he? 18?

If he was an Academy player (where he really should be if it wasn't for his contract) we would be screaming for him to be signed to the big club.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I personally don't want either one of them to go. I agree, Ibby is too young. I also think OBW could be the classic Edson Buddle of this league if we let him stick for a few years.

I'm simply predicting what Preki and Mo would do, that's all.

Wait you think OBW will be great if we trade him to another team like we did Buddle?:D Nah I hope he makes good.

Ibby and White are Generation Adidas I believe. No need to release either one of them. The Latvian is definitely one that looks like a bit of a mistake. He is on a pay packet of 125k I believe and he is with due respect not worth that kind of dough.

Just curious. Do you know how much Paul Tagliabue made while Commish?

Edit: Nevermind, he made $8m. Which leads me to question, how the hell is Selig making so much?

What should he make then? 2 mil? 40K? 100K? 1 mil? It's all subjective anyways.
He's worth whatever he can get.

I didn't see any rule anywhere saying a commish should make X percentage of player salaries.
