We all know what central american nations are capable in terms of support, but I wonder how it will compare to something like the video below. Has anyone come across some news from Honduras or spanish media on how the match is being perceived locally in Honduras (long shot I know). :flare::flare::flare::flare::flare::flare::flare:: flare::flare::flare:

That was a match in the later round of the old Concacaf Cup against top Mexican competition.

Recent group and preliminary matches in Honduras have drawn a few thousand. Their league games average 2 or 3 K, even for the most popular teams. The playoffs will bring out 10 k plus if the rivals in the two big cities play each other.

I expect the hardcore supporters, and up to 5 000 attendence. But I'll tell you when I see for myself, because I am heading down for it. Booya!

I would say they will get 10k at the very high end. likely 5-7k

I would add a few more Motagua supporters outside that don't have tickets for this game. It's going to be a real challenge for the team.
They will all be pissed their down a goal, I wish it was two.

When Montreal played the other team that plays in that stadium (Olypmia I think), I think they got a crowd in 18k range. I'm hoping for something 15k +.

Wow, a possible 5k in attendance? Seriously, that better not be a factor then. Having said that, I can't wait for this game, and it will be incredibly exciting to see them fight for us on foreign soil (non US/Canada, I mean).

^ well, if each of the 5,000 bring a bag of piss (per JDG) then I'd say they could be a factor.

The pissbags are sick. Although there was that incident where Landycakes was playing a Mexican team and two dudes threw stuff at him -- one puked in a beer cup and the other pissed in it.

Fuckin' gross. And if you're one of the supporters, don't you get pissed when droplets of a fellow supporter's piss land on you as he hurls a cup of it at Landy?

Don't forget though, that was a group stage game and by that point they would have been into their season.

Not sure if a) prelim round or b) still in preseason - makes any difference in terms of interest?

I really hope will be a crowd of just maximum 15k, otherwise would be a frightening experience for almost all the TFC team members, something like this:

Watching a few of the videos related to Motagua and Olimpia (the other Tegucigalpa team who plays in the same stadium) wow, there are some true 3rd world conditions about these supporters... plenty of fights between them, and between them and the police.
Anyways TFC will step in a complete different world out there in Honduras.

They are so friggin' crazy they would lick up the other supporter's piss and puke then spit it on Landycakes.

Not sure how this will impact 'atmosphere at the game' but Honduran newspaper preview article today mentions the Motagua players are hoping for a good crowd. The articale goes on to say alot of respectful things about TFC but one thing they did get wrong was describing TFC as "an attacking side" , found that kind of funny. They had ticket prices listed on the article and out of curiosity i checked what they would be in C$...

Cheapest seats in the house...$2.75
Most expensive...................$10.75

Is that expensive for the fans or affordable?

^^

That's pretty expensive man. The average income of Honduras is about $800 US a year. Honduras is a poor country, it is overrun by gangs and are caught in the middle of the drug trade.

A year??? For real?
Are you saying the average income is under $100 per month?

maybe a bit of piss in a bag might actually make JDG do something.

I did a quick search on the interweb and got those numbers. It wouldn't surprise me if it's anywhere between that and $2000. I did a search on minimum legal wage and teacher's salary.

HA HA HA! De Guzmán is not as bad as people think. That being said, he is not as good as most people here expected.

He's getting much better. I strongly believe that if you have him in a more advanced role, we will see more from him.

I hope Preki keeps him in a more attacking role. he does more for the team when up there. to me anyways, it seems that the team has more flair when he plays up there. his defending mid does not put this team in a huge advantage over another decent player back there (even Nane Josepsh did ok there last time they played Motagua).
