Great photo in the Star story.
Globe referring to it as a "surprise" in the headline is a stretch.
The books had them as a pretty decent-sized favourite.

^ The good news is that coverage is getting better. The bad news is that you're going to be busy :D

A quick hit - as we are still looking for goal #2, it's promising to see two academy players that could step up in the very near future and one provide some offence - and as noted in the thread on Henry, both should be snatched up immediately.

TFC Wins 1st Ever Champions League Game – Post Game Video-Blog

Some footage from the south stands of last night's victory in the CONCACAF Champions League 1-0 over CD Motagua of Honduras, plus my thoughts on the win and why it could have been much much worse (especially after what happened in Los Angeles!).

Well, given that we're taking a narrow advantage to Honduras, we're going to see just how good a defensive side we really are next Tuesday.

i worry about that - i can't figure out why teams want to come in defensive to the opposition’s pitch. i know that’s often said but why wouldn't TFC approach it as they did last night, except starting Mista (if he's in shape that is) and Maicon?? personally i think they should attack, go for goals rather than be purely defending 1 nil.

This worries me, though. Ideally we would play very defensively, sure, and try and grab an important goal on a counter. However, I don't think we can withstand 90 minutes of constant pressure from these guys. They'll crush us!

if we try to lock in to a purely defensive mindset, then yes, but it would be foolish for Preki to 'call off the dogs'. We saw yesterday that if we're on the attack, we can control the game. My one big point of optimism is that road goals are worth more than home goals, and Motagua has 0. I'm sure our strikers will be able to slip a counter attack goal in there somewhere.

If we have 2 goals in Honduras, they'll need 5 to be even with us (including our 1 goal from yesterday) Right?

However many goals we score in Honduras they will then have to beat us by 2 because of away goals. That's why it was vital not to allow any last night.

in that case, motagua needs to score 4 to win. 3-3 draw on aggregate still means TFC advance on away goals

Google does a decent translation: http://translate.google.com/translate?js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=1&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.latribuna.hn%2Fweb2.0%2F%3Fp%3D 162191&sl=auto&tl=en

No idea how "Montreal" gets worked into the first sentence.

Poor Amado. I know he didn't have his best game, but sacrificing him at the half?? I'd have thought a simple substitution would've been sufficient.

LOL

Article isn't too good. In a nutshell says Motagua is down but not out. TFC controlled pretty much the entire game...
That Motagua must win while TFC simply needs a tie to move on.

DeRo is now named Wayne. lol
