Did not see this reported anywhere

The Bank of Montreal has signed a multiyear renewal of its jersey partnership with Toronto FC, ensuring the bank’s logo will remain on the jersey of one of MLS’s most successful clubs. The bank and Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, which owns Toronto FC, agreed to a five-year …

I wonder how much money bank of montreal paid for the five years.

Wow, that's up from the range of 1-1.5 million per year under the previous agreement.

good money for the club or does this go to a general ML$E pot ? .

With the amount of jersey sales the advertisement reach for BMO is huge.

The money goes to the team and stadium I believe. I am not sure if the sponsorship money is not shared with MLS or kept 100% by the team but I would doubt MLS gets any of that since they already have a deal with a US financial.

I'm pretty sure that stadium sponsorhip and jersey sponsorship (in our case the same thing) go directly to the team unless it's a league wide sponsor like Gilden Paints who pays cash to the league and cash to the crew

So basically the team has an extra $3m a year for the next few years, when they're already clearly profitable. Given that they're legally forbidden to spend it on regular players, I'd really hope to see money spent on a dp, a scouting team/really good academy programme or stadium improvements. Or maybe they can just go ahead and build their fancy new practice facility rather than waiting for some local government to pay for it and build it for them, which is mlse's usual practice.

I'd suggest ticket price decreases, but that's just too ridiculous a concept for words.

Anyway, hopefully it isn't just funnelled into the bottom line, which given the lack of publicity this deal got, is my best guess of what will happen to it.

Let's demand better of them.:flare::drum::flare:

The league gets a $200,000 flat amount on each team's deal, so TFC gets $3.8 million. A jersey sponsorship must be for at least $500k.

The rules on jersey sponsorships are here:

A few thoughts on the last two weeks on football in the US. Specifically two stories of Donovan stepping up, and the debacle in St. Louis with Anelka stepping down. Still kinda shocking that the requisites to be a coach are spinning records and having a brother as a footballer!!! DJ Spoony could be the next big thing.
