The adidas one is crap. Although if i gather correctly there is some (really shitty) 3rd party company that does all the crests and stuff for MLS. They really need to ditch that company ...

Not huge fan of it, but hey...it's not my club.
I was over on the Timber Army boards and people are NOT happy about it. I probably would be as well considering it kind of looks like a minor league affiliate of the Sounders.
We'll have to wait and see. This may be just a mach up and not the real deal, but if it is look for some really upset Timber fans.

The new logo has been leaked, and the Timbers are not happy at all.
The response from the Timbers Army, from what I gather, is generally negative.

What are your thoughts? I think Vancouver's is much better. This looks cartoony.

Meh on the new logo. Not as great as the USL one they have, but I can see it grow on me. I think I like this one better than Vancouver's new one from Tuesday.

There is only one thing about Portland timbers that makes me sad... Section 215b of PGE park.

Even the logo is decent, they are going to be great so long as you aren't sitting in 215b during a corner.

Check out the PGE website, they have a really neat seat view, that has no view of the net, there is a large building (corp boxes) blocking everything past the box. (those are the $99 season ticket seats)

I agree, that it's awesome minus about 100 seats, but ya I noticed that too. I'm sure they have an area in mind though., it's not like Toronto with you have 6-7 different teams with in a 8 hour drive. (give or take). There is only Seattle and Vancouver. (both very close buy though, so it's odd that there isn't anything for them.

Also I love North America. In the Euro Leagues,5-6 hours away is a massive travel distance. North America that is close by.

I'm going to be completely honest, but this is almost exactly what I imagined the new Portland crest would look like. It's actually not too bad as crests go, but the chevrons would look a lot better if they were contained within the outer border, like here on the new scarf design:

Anyways, I certainly don't hate it as crests go, but it's not as clean-cut as I usually like to see. A bit cartoonish in some respects. In my mind, a melding of the scarf logo above and the new crest would have looked the best.

All said, I'm glad they stuck with the original colour scheme. In that regard, it seems to me that the owners of the USL/NASL clubs being promoted into MLS are aware of the strong attachments to tradition and identity that the fans have.

Overall, I liked the look of the previous crest as well, but it could have done with a little modernization.

It's not bad at all. The more I compare the two of them though, the more I prefer Vancouver's new crest.

If they didn't change the crest, adidas wouldn't get a large number of sales for the new jerseys.

A lot of people would just say... meh I'll wait until the price drops.

Which is what I do with any new TFC merch that comes out. Why spend $100 when if I wait 6 months I can get it for $50 or a year and get it for $25. LOL

yeah, changing the crest would make more money... but that doesn't mean they had to change it to what they changed it to.
I didn't care for the Vancouver logo, but it's much more professional and classy than the new Timbers logo.

Maybe it's all part of their master plan.
Release a half-assed logo and merch in season one... fans dislike it, but are compelled to buy it.
Then, release a new logo and merch for season two... fans are happy, and buy up everything.
Portland wins.

At first I wasn't a big fan of the new Whitecaps crest; but the more I see it, the more it grows on me. I don't think I'll ever really like the new Timber logo like I do others in the league, though.=

^ Not enough of a change that they needed to make, unfortunately. All said, it does look better for such a minor edit.

Now there Secondary Logo is what I had originally envisioned. It's a shame they just don't make this the Primary Crest.

If they stick the secondary on the kit I think alot of Timber fans will be happy. From what I'm hearing quite a few Timber fans like the tweek, and it shows the FO actually will listen to the fans, but still wish they would have left the original alone. Still, better than the Crew.

It doesn't matter so much to them that most of us hate the Portland logo. When your own fans are as hostile as the Timbers Army, it's a PR disaster.

Probably we'll see a rebranding, just like the Galaxy did, down the road:

Maybe move the "TORONTO" banner from the middle of the crest to the top leaving a lone "T" standing and making the 'FC' bigger.
If they wanted to do something bigger I would remove the 'leaf' from on top and replace it with a hawk.
Either way, as it stands, TFC has one of the best crests in the league so why even think of playing around with it.
