When Maple Leaf Sports + Entertainment’s Bob Hunter popped by Suite 17 at BMO Field Wednesday night, I jokingly asked MLSE’s executive vice-president, venues and entertainment, if I could get a photo of him taking a big divot out of his beloved soccer field at the conclusion of the Toronto FC–Vancouver Whitecaps match. Bill Searle, co-owner of Otter Creek GC (http://scoregolf.com/Otter-Creek-Golf-Club-Otterville-Ontario-canada) and the president of Campbellville’s NGF Golf/North Gate Farms put me up to the prank.
“Oh, I never take a divot,” Hunter laughed as we shook hands. “I always pick my shots clean — especially if I was hitting a shot out there for you. No divots.”
