View Full Version : Wednesday Evening - Thunderstorms in Forecast

prizby

What would be the procedure around tomorrow nights game since they are now calling for 10MM of rain in the evening as well as thunderstorms. Suppose it gets called due to thunderstorms, will they even replay the game?

Would fans have a right to their money back?

lightning will be the only way it gets canceled, i think

I haven't missed a game on T.V., stream or watching in our four years. But man the thought of watching TFC-lite playing a completely apathetic Vancouver side in yet another rain game. Late night, I'll get home at midnight. Just seems soooo unappealing right now.

I'd relax folks...

Its 8:30pm Tuesday night, and the forecast will probably change 10-times before kickoff... LOL

They'll have a plan in place if the weather is that bad...

You can't change, beat, set the weather - so take Booker's advice and drink some beer... LOL!

Especially the chance to witness for the first time our boys lift the trophy at home, it also a plus to be able to watch some of our academy boys play.

They can just stop the match temporarily for 15-30 minutes if they have to.

Didn't they pause the LA Galaxy match in 2008 when the rain came down hard?

Speaking of which, didn't DC United play a match last year or two years that didn't start until midnight or something because of torrential rain?

Joe Kool

Is there a rule as to how long they must play before the game is in the book?

The rule is to stop the game for some time to see if the lightning clears then call it if it doesn't. If they completed at least one half the score at the time will become the final score. If they haven't completed the full first half, they will attempt to setup a replay before canceling. That is the MLS rule as far as I understand it so not sure if totally the same for this tourney.

If the games cancelled, people with tickets for tomorrow's game should get tickets for the first leg of the Champion's league game. :)

You may recall at the beginning of the Vancouver/TFC game, earlier in the tourney, Dobson and Forest said: in the event of a postponement the game would be played the next day, at about noon, before the planes were scheduled to take off.

I doubt it will happen, but we may be in for a Thursday aft game. Could we even attend? How would they staff it? It probably doesn't matter. Just speculating.

According to the Weather Network website as of right now (11:55pm Tuesday June 1st) the forecast calls for possible thunder showers at 7pm, with it stopping and only steady rain during the game.

Of course this means busting out the awesome RPB ponchos!!!!

Plus, as was mentioned earlier in the thread the forecast can change right up until game time

These small summer thunderstorms are not possible to predict hours ahead of time.

Besides ... what is there to post? Even if one hits during the game, it would only delay play for a few minutes.

My safety hint is find someone who is worrying about all these things. These people wear tin hats. Make sure your not sitting next to him, but several rows in front.

The weather at the games is getting is stupid. I know I sound like a literal fair weather fan, but I'm sick of getting soaked. And then there will be a ten page thread about how empty the stadium looked, started by people who watched the game in the comfort of their own home.

Would a roof really be too much to ask for, since the weather is so negatively effecting the game day experience? Idea the second, everyone who shows up tonight gets into the CCL qualifier game for free.

Dobson just said it appears to have stopped raining at BMO. I admit, I bailed, and am currently nice and dry. The rain is really coming down here in North York.

Hey!
I skipped tonight, but guess what, I'm still a supporter.
This is a dumb conversation that I think we all know will result in a stupid argument.
Perhaps the mods can nip this one in the butt early and close this, before it degenerates into the inevitable?

Congrats boys on the NCC win, again.

Made the trip because I wanted to see the youth get blooded....not a great match but it was nice to be there when the lads got presented with the silverware!

You never know when the team will get presented with any sort of sivlerware at home again!

I might be wrong on this but I thought the rule was if you have missed any match home or away for any reason then you are not a true supporter but rather you are merely a fan?
