I am not crazy about the title of the Academy article.

"Double defeat"? That is misleading. They played 2 games and lost both. That is 2 losses or 2 defeats, not a "double defeat".

Excellent insight into Preki's managerial approach with TFC by Nigel Reed in today's CBC article. As Reed suggests, Preki, unlike his predecessors, has been able to keep all the roster players involved and ensure that the reserves can step in at any time to contribute wthin the confines of his disciplined system...

But Preki, it turns out, is more than a mere slave driver. He is also showing us a glimpse of his human side. Don't ever expect him to let down his guard, but this driven individual understands the importance of man-management.

His mission can only succeed if he keeps most of his players content, most of the time. One of the challenges facing any leader is how to keep everyone onside and engaged. Preki currently has 23 players at his disposal of which only 11 can be happy at any given moment.

He has rewarded those who have bought into the project. Starters have been rested and squad rotation, difficult to achieve in MLS due to a general lack of depth, has been tried and tested. Those on the fringes are desperate to grab their chance and make the right impression.

AGREED...

I was fully expecting to read an article about them losing a match, and having 2-3 of their top players going down to long term injuries...

Fucking Paul James. GAWD am I ever sick of hearing about his whining and complaining when it comes to the national team players and their lack of passion to play for Canada. Fucking guy consistently puts blame on the players, but doesn't understand that the people who put those players in that situation is the CSA. Paul James if all players have a serious problem playing for Canada, then wouldn't you think that maybe it's the system more then the players themselves?

Oh Paul James, FUCK YOU to say Dero has no passion to play for our country.

The only self-indungent person here is you. It all stems from a jealousy you have that you aren't the coach of our national team and no one would dare higher you to be put in front of a camera anymore. Enjoy your biased journalism.

I agree. Paul James seems to be unable to distance himself from the national program enough to get an objective perspective. The problems at the CSA are deep and run well past player shenanigans (which I agree are probably likely but are only a symptom of a much larger problem.)

I thought the article was an inocuous piece of dated fluff. If people, especially so called experts on the sport can't see improvement from 3 Canadians playing together week in, week out + an unprecedented 5 (FIVE!) friendlies in one year, they have to shut up about this team not being able to play together. To see this year out doesn't require a fraction of the patience to have watched and prayed for games in previous years. This will show the improvement that is expected.
