I echo Gareth Wheeler's sentiments: The Toronto Sun writer went after the decision makers recently over the continuing problem of community use on the new pitch at our National Stadium. It really is a disgrace; you and I could rent the place out for a total of 12 hours a week. Plus, there's the Benfica-Panathanaikos friendly on the weekend. But Toronto FC can't get on there. Not that they actually want to more than once a week, they just want everyone off. There's no way a brand new pitch can handle this amount of traffic.

Disgraceful.

And how about this for a case in point: Some of the TFC players and coaches who go for a run at BMO are asked to please stay outside the white lines and the corner flags. In other words, be sure to preserve the pitch for Joe and his buddies. That has to change. Start hammering away at your local, provincial and federal politicians. The more we all yell, the more they're likely to listen. After all, there is a civic election this fall.

Some individuals have expressed anger and disbelief that there would be delegates at the AGM who would vote against this reform. There have been calls to name those delegates and the provinces that they represent.

ok who were they :D

Ummm how many members do we have now?

Can the executive team spearhead a petition, or letter, or post the MP information so we can call, or plan some sort of demonstration, or some other sort of acttion to get some "squeak" to thi s issue?

Sqeaky wheels get the grease.. . . .

AMaybe we can HAMMEr Miller next time he is joes, so he can help change the rules at BMO before he exits?

glad to see jdg stay and rest, but jdg has got to feel gutted. facing a world cup favourite right before the world cup is a thrill for any player and a good game sure would have raised his profile globally.

Not much to do with Preki.

If the training staff won't realease him to play because of an injury, there is little anyone on the National Team can do about it. Don't think Preki factors into this at all.

Or book it an leave it unused... That would be a message! Could get the supporters groups standing around the edge of the pitch in respect :D

so for June, July, August, you just need to raise approx. $36000 and you could buy all 12 hours every week. :)

I gotta say I don't mind today's SSG even though I don't think she's 25.

She reminds me of some 80s actress... just can't pinpoint it.

That actually would be a great idea!! Buy 1 hour of time, all supporter's groups could be involved, have a protest during that hour invite the media, voice our concerns.

There would be rec beer leagues busting a nut about the wasted time!!

can anyone list the necessary contacts for the GTA regarding the MPs and City councilors that we need to harass?

Its a municipal issue, so no need to harass MPs or MPPs. Contact your local city councilor by Googleing Toronto Ward Map and click on the first link.

As per the TFC email I just got, yes it does. Start time 4:20 (my favourite time of day...:flare:)

EDIT: did anyone go to the last one, and more importantly, was there beer for sale?

Ya I got the email too, but there was no mention of price or lack thereof.

From the email:

"...kick off set for 4:20 p.m. If you want to stay at BMO Field after the first team match, the East Stand will be open for you to watch the Academy game."

I can't imagine them making people pay for it. But then again, it is ML$E....

It would be cool if a bunch of us stuck around and cheered them on, especially since the weather looks at least a little better than the Chicago match, when the Academy last played.

To hell with the boring finale to the Champions League...:scarf:
