Speculations on potential available players for summer...

Jay DeMerit (D)
currently captains Watford, but out of contract this summer and most likely will not resign. If he has a good WC, will find work in Europe again, but if not, a move back to MLS is not out of question. Only 30 yrs old

Mods, please rename this thread: "Im Shitting The Bed, b/c Henry Will Make TFC Eat Shit and Like It."

Yohan, Im with you on that one Jay deMerit would be a solid pick up, but I thought he retired. I could be wrong. Also, you gotta remember that American international players usually are patriotic/nationalists as to where they play, you just cant assume because their contract is up that their first choice would be Toronto. It might be that Toronto can afford to pay more money for deMerit but playing on home soil for them would be more in their favour. I think you can assume TFC is the last place any American player wants to play for and the first team the Americans want to play against.

Other Choices:

1. Rafael Marquez- Henry's teammate would be solid:) IMO, he might be favourable more towards a team like Chicago or San Jose.

2. Sol Campbell- Pls, keep an open mind. Its not like theres anything wrong with it.

3. Kevin McKenna- Canadian, and might be open to making a shitload of money for marking shit players and would definitely be a good 8 year plan to come to TFC.

4. Paul Stalteri- Same thign as above and he would play in this league for 5 years for sure.

5. Craig Moore- Aussie Centre Back and a free agent:o Check List: played for Newcastle(check), played for Rangers(check) and recently got his contract terminated for an Off-field incident(check). This guy has Maurice written all over him:deadhorse:

David Edgar
very unlikely, unless Burnley is looking to slash wages and willing to let Edgar leave on a free transfer. More likely Edgar will get more playing time in Championship next season

if Edgar was to come, he'd be looking for DP wages too...

Jay DeMerit can eat shit. I still haven't forgiven him for scoring the winning goal against Leeds in the 2006 Championship playoff final.

Guillermo Franco will be available on free transfer after his contract expires...

33 yr old striker who will be playing in Mexico squad for WC... though I think a move back to one of Mexican clubs is more likely

Koki Mizuno of Celtic is still under contract for one more year but he may be let go depending on who the new manager will be. He has hardly played for 2 and a half years but is very skilled and would be an excellent winger in the MLS. It is a shame he hasn't been given a proper chance in Scotland as he is a gifted player. He certainly appears to have no future with Celtic.

4 caps for Japan and ex Japan League MVP.

Stalteri is finished! No way he'd come here for $150K per year, which is all he's worth...
