I only saw this in the print edition of the Star, haven't seen it online yet. It's a small blurb next to the article linked above, by Daniel Girard:

"Johnston won't sue ex-coach
TFC general manager Mo Johnston said Tuesday he won't purse legal action against former coach Chris Cummins for comments made public Monday.
Cummins, who parted ways with TFC last October after the team missed the playoffs, slammed Johnston in an interview with The Score's soccer analyst Kristian Jack.
Cummins, who took over as interim coach early in the season after John Carver resigned, aired a litany of grievances against club management, ranging from Johnston's alleged interference with the lineup he chose to controversy over bonus money for players for the Real Madrid game.
Johnston, who on Monday had reportedly said he was going to consult his lawyer over Cummins' comments, said in a brief email Tuesday, "I'm moving on."

I guess someone either told him he had no case or simply to shut it because he is making things worse. Either way, I am sure this is not the result he had envisioned.

That's a relief, and a prudent response in my opinion. Mo was obviously advised by the powers at be to take the high road regarding the allegations of Chris Cummins and retract his ill advised initial statement. I hope this latest development will mitigate the negative speculation and needless controversy surrounding the club...

And Sebastian Letoux just got knocked out of action last night with a knee injury during the US Open Cup playoff game.... so Philly has an injury to a key player and dumb penalty calls against them... reminds me of 2007!

Yes, the way that veterans like Adrian Serioux and Carl Robinson were shipped out of town in 2010 were PR nightmares; fan favourites were sent packing in cold, calculating fashion, enough to spur the Red Patch Boys to issue its own press releases thanking these players.

team is wearing Greys tonight

Can't we just wear red when we're at home? Does this team really need the extra revenue from jersey sales?

Roogsy
04-28-2010, 09:18 AM
Lots of teams have alternate jerseys. Does it really affect us which jersey they wear or how many choices they have?

And the basic answer to your question is yes, they need the extra revenue. Nobody ever refused extra revenue, especially in a league that hasn't made much since it's inception. Would you turn down someone giving you free money?

I'm sure that has more to do with the fact that the greys are done after this season.

Wouldn't surprise me if next year its red for home, white away and a new 3rd jersey for NCC (colour to be determined).

Oh God.:picard:

This looks like the mix of a Colorado Rapids + TFC Jersey in a freakin wheel of mismatch. Madness! Madness!

As far as the jersey sales and different style jerseys for every competition, I think TFC has 3 main jerseys and every year they change one, so that they are constantly pumping out uniforms for the hoarders out there. Seriously, I wonder what exactly this money is being spent, because when I see a TFC game, its always a sea of red. So there's tonnes of jerseys already sold, but I dont think there's even a light bright on the sidelines that would indicate that at least the money is going towards paying the electrical bill.

This is a stupid argument on Paul Jame's part. If that's the case, why should I pay attention to the ramblings of a failed Canadian youth coach who is now forced to coach woman's university soccer?

Just because someone may have sucked at their job doesn't mean that what they have to say holds any less wait. God I hate that line of thinking.

I hate this. I agree with James' general point about the need to bring in senior soccer people......but his point is ruined by the "arguments" he uses. Seriously, where are the editors? This is just not even a decent opinion piece, let alone journalism:

The other issue with the recent Ali Gerba and now Cummins interviews – along with the resulting furor – is the clear appearance of an attached agenda, which should be troubling because it replicates what goes on in our soccer culture way too often. Whether disgruntled former employees in the form of ex players have anything to do with this one cannot know for certain, but it sure has a nasty smell to it.

What "attached agenda"?
Which "soccer culture" exactly? TFC? CMNT?
Which "ex players" exactly? Why does it have "a nasty smell"?

Seriously, that's just weak.

If you can't name names, don't print it!

Agenda - To attempt to fix a reputation of coming here and failing.

Yes but Liverpool has the advantage of having every game televised, no one can say that about TFC. They need a place to market products, and the fact is the home games are usually televised and they need to move shirts.

I just heard the sounds of a ringing cash register, faintly, in the distance.

LOL - I prefer to think of it more like the soft clinking of bars of gold bullion when placed in an armoured car, but what the heck!

There was a really funny bit I remember from Saturday Night live about 12 - 13 years ago when Tiger Woods won his first Masters, impersonating him recounting how when he won it was eerily quiet on the 18th green, except for the sound of his Father (Earl) whooping it up in the background like a cash register, caching, caching!

I found it hilarious that MO came out (as quoted) to say he was going to sue Cummins, because listening to the Cummins interview it was measured, and it took some probing questions from KJ to get the answers out of CC. Did not seem like a hatchet job to me, and had the real ring of truth to it.
