(On the match . . .) “I think this was the best we played all year. We played amazing, especially the first half. Like we said in here, we all played very, very well.So it wasn't that Seattle lay down for TFC and just let TFC win.

LOL amazing quote. Barrett is being compared to our very own RPB Member...

Even the embattled Chad Barrett, who just can’t seem to get a goal despite another yeoman's effort up front, received praise from Preki for his work ethic.

It's sad when such an admission has to come from the other team's best player yet some of our own supporters insist that the victory was a fluke...

Anyone who suggests yesterday's win was a fluke proves they don't know how to read the game.

Exactly. Yesterday's match was some of the best football I've seen us play 'as a team'. Looks like Preki's system is starting to pay off and the players are starting to buy into it.

Great quote from Frei in that TSN article as well:

"It's not like one win is going to make me believe in Preki's system -- I believed in it before," Frei said. "Obviously, there were some mistakes. We need to look at those, but hopefully, we can get some momentum and carry that along."

It's all about the system.... AND WE KNOW THISSSSSS! LOL

So believe in our players.

Great game yesterday - TFC put together their best 90 minutes of the season but it could have easily gone the other way if Frei hadn't bailed them out with some great saves

I went through the post-game thread, I didn't find anything that said the win was a fluke. Maybe I missed it? :noidea:

I just went through about half the posts and I couldn't find anyone who had a tempered view of the game calling it "lucky". The only reference to luck that I saw were from the people who were misinterpreting and misquoting the views from other people (it happens a lot on these boards, I am beginning to fear the comprehension level here).

Everyone was thankful for the 3 points, some simply saw it as a moderate win with some promising signs but not enough evidence of a complete change to warrant complete change of opinion on the team, and that is all anyone was saying. Many are still waiting to see if TFC has indeed turned a corner or if it was an anomaly based on the right conditions for TFC and the worst conditions for Seattle. In other words, even the worst teams in the league are going to win a game here and there, what supporters should be looking for is a sustained effort and sustained results that help change opinions about what this team has become. That can only happen after more than one simple win.

With that in mind, I really hope people start making an effort to read and understand the posts from other people on this board as opposed to jumping to conclusions and misinterpreting the points people are trying to make to suit their own form of thinking.

yup, as in any MLS game.........

see: Kamara's comical miss against LA (could have won the game 1-0 with that goal..
see: NYRB win over Philly (could have been a Philly win or at least a tie given the solid play by Philly, but a stupid mistake by a defender gifts NYRB a penalty for the win).

MLS really isn't a league where you walk out every game and dominate. In MLS terms, last night's win was a domination. Many games are decided on much finer lines.

LOL... I didn't read the thread thoroughly just gauging what people were saying.

It was a good win. But as soon as I got home I forgot all about it. Then it was "let's see what they do against Montreal".

Hmmm...just in case this was in reference to me, allow me to retort. If you read the entire thread carefully, you will notice a surprising number of posts that insinuated that TFC was fortunate to get the result only because Seattle was playing on 2 days rest, Frei made 3 stops, their defense handed us both our goals on a silver platter, etc.

I was of the opinion that while some of those observations have merit, there wasn't enough credit given to TFC for earning the victory in some cases.

I also recall the distinct insinuation that Preki is anti-Canadian and doesn't warrant any confidence in his ability to select a competitive roster. Am I misinterpreting your quotes as well?

Roogsy, I've mentioned in the past that I respect your opinion in general but please don't insult my intelligence by telling me that me that I misconstrue information to promote my own agenda. I have no alterior motives other than to try to be positive as well as realistic about the fortunes of our football club this season...

Hey, I agree with you to some extent, games are decided on much finer lines...but I wouldn't say it was a complete domination...as for my comment, it wasn't taking anything away from TFC's win or their solid play, but merely pointing out the importance of Frei's saves. The team is starting to find some chemistry and showing that their buying into Preki's system, definitely a step in the right direction. This team will get better as the season progresses.

LOL! I do what I do.

Listen guys...all I want you to understand is that those of us that weren't falling over ourselves giddy with the win is because despite our dire situation, TFC was always going to gut out wins this year. We weren't going to go 1-29. So our posts really just indicated a wait and see approach with the team, taking the positives from the game Saturday and hoping to see more of the same on Wednesday and forward. We simply acknowledge that the conditions were right for a win and what we would like to see is a sustained effort and results from the team.

And ManUtd4ever...my post was really more a response to my broski Koryo. I felt I read the game fine, especially since I watched in on TV and not at pitch-level and I simply didn't find the game as dominating by TFC as it is being made out on the board.

Like I said before. When we lose, we shouldn't lose our heads and when we win we shouldn't fellate ourselves. I think Whoopee said it best. Even keel.
