Toronto FC falling behind Vancouver Whitecaps (http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/toronto-fc-falling-behind-vancouver-whitecaps/article1545656/)

The thing about this article that bugs me is it would all be true...IF...TFC had been around for 30 some odd years like Vancouver, If TFC had an academy system from the start, If TFC wasn't started from scratch, If TFC was in a league that didn't impose tight restrictions on payroll and number of Canadians it needed to field in it's club, If TFC was in a lesser quality league. Then the arguement would hold more weight than it does.
I guess this means we're behind Montreal as well.

^ No, that's not relevant. It didn't take Vancouver 30 years to hire three experienced guys to run the front office. In fact, they were really only in the last couple of years.

Many expansion teams hire an "edler stateman" kind of guy to be club president and someone else to be GM. MLSE decided that they could handle the president role in house and hired one inexperienced guy to run the team.
