^Part template driven as I said. I never posted that they copied the "Great Toronto FC" in its entirety. Remember - TFC is a huge success marketing wise and I doubt that's lost on new teams in the Great White North.

Lots of soccer team shields look similar but I wouldn't doubt the "re-enforcement" of Toronto's emblem on this Edmonton team. BTW - Love the older one way more.

one of my (good) memories was that first game TV broadcast in 2007, and after the final commercial, the TFC logo floated across the screen for the first time. I thought "holy shit, that's sweet!"

It's not as shockingly bad as I thought it was a few hours ago, but it still lacks any charm. The FC is far too dominant and detracts from the rest of the image, there should be more emphasis on Edmonton. Like someone else said, the hard edge on the bevel is also an eye-sore and actually makes the C look like it's white.

It's a fleur de lys, or a version of it. It's also part of the logo for St. Louis Athletica in the WPS.

Anyone living in or near Toronto knows how popular this logo is. It's on almost every ball cap you see.

What blew me away a month ago was to see how many stores were carrying hats with this same logo, in places like Queen's and Brooklyn. Seriously, next to Yankee caps, the old school Blue Jays were the most popular logo out there.

Anyone who thinks a logo is not important, needs to reassess...

The middle one's ok. I know the green shield is based on the Gateway Arch, but it looks like the sole of a shoe. The two outer ones give the impression of a stalk of corn.

It takes the aspects from the coat of arms which actually represent the city. As for the FC part, it could either be placed in the sun or within the top two black/blue squares.

I figure if I can do this with paint of all things, Edmonton could get someone to come in and create a much better logo than what they have.

That ball was the official ball of the NASL so it was kind of natural for them to include it.

The middle is the safe pick as you can at least ensure your lettering isn't going to get lost in the background colour (whatever that colour may turn out to be).

The gold lettering in 1 and 3 needs some sort of contrast factor ie a drop shadow or a hairline.

If you check out the logos against white, it works better than the grey here on the post.

Not to mention - go to the AC St. Louis site or Flikr and see their kits. The entire logo rolls out really well across all mediums.

The FC Edmonton might look 'ok' standing alone and on the home page of the website, but did they think how it will look on their kits? Or TShirts? Or even better, flags and banners? How many variations have you seen with the TFC logo on Flags and Banners - what will we see in Edmonton? A big blue and black flag with a 70s clipart soccer ball in the middle? A giant beveled "FC"? Wooo!

The banner overhead would have been better than what they are using, and around the pioneers waist...there's your clubs colours...copper and blue not to mention it's a perfect design for their first scarf.

But THe Edmonton Crest looks really easy, like you could make that by copy and pasting different soccer crests and put them all in 1 in and could make it all in about 5 mins.

WHy is it that the old teams knew how to make really good logos, the best logos in Basball, Hockey, Basketball, and Football often the old skool ones, it aint just soccer where teams today got shit logos, look at the old hockey logos compared to the many shitty hockey logos today. Teams like the Red Wings, Blackhawks, even logos easy like the Boston Bruins showed class. Much better then the new Avalance, Thrashers, Wild and Blue Jackets.
