View Full Version : Regarding the PA Announcer - Player Intro's

It would probably be a good idea if the PA guy announced both the first and last names of players
(for the first few home games perhaps)

TFC fans have some new names to learn, including some pronounciations.

Just throwing that out there....

I don't want a wall of silence hit BMO when the loudspeakers call out "Raivis!"... and then nothing.

Haha, I was thinking about this the other day. Will be lots of new names to shout out for the first time.

Can't we just give him a nickname... like ochocinco :D

I think we should boo garcia if he starts, let them hear how we really feel

Not yelling Garcia's name out is terribly misguided – unless your goal is to make the environment even more toxic than it already is going to be.
If supporting the team makes you miserable then maybe you should consider whether it’s worth it for you. Seriously.

I have no intention of booing any Toronto players during the introductions.

I will still try to shout out the last names, as per usual.

But I hope we get a little help from the PA guy.

It's actually pretty easy to say - HISS-can-o-VEECH (again, that's directly from the league/team)

^ The majority of people at BMO will not have read this forum or visited the MLS website.

So they will need help.

Do you have kids? You ever sent them to the corner to chill out and time out... Does that mean you don't love them?

Garcia should be sent to the corner to chill out and get himself together...

There is an accent on the s and the c which makes the sound 'sh' and 'ch' respectfully.
And don't forget the H at the beginning.

I wouldn't trust that site for nothing.
English media, whether Can, US or British, bastardize pronunciations like no other.

No, Garcia should probably never see the pitch again. But that doesn't mean he deserves to be ripped apart by the supporters. It's not his fault he's starting and I see no evidence that he isn't putting an honest effort in. Ruiz in '08 deserved to be booed. Garcia has just lost a step too many.

Anger should be directed at the people that put him in the position to fail.

That said, the home opener is NOT a time to poison the environment. It really, really isn't.

Well, I first got it from the team so...one would assume they asked him.

We were just calling him "New Guy" Saturday night. That works. Based on how he played on Sat. He might not see the field anyway.

Asking isn't the be all.
I know Ante Razic lets him name be bastardized.
