Its more likely an excuse for his previous club to release him.

He does appear to be injury prone, which is never a good thing.

and all is now well in the world. Phew thanks God we got this guy I was getting worried for a while.

:)

actually just checked his wiki and his goals ratio is excellent for a defender...I take it back, as long as he has 2 legs and can run.

I was taking the piss but then checked wiki and it looks like a decent gamble if he is fit. Had never heard of him of course as I don't spend much time following Latvian football, tho I' sure it's excellent!!

Whose criticizing him? Other than commenting on his obscurity or his proneness to injury. Which seem like valid points. Most people are willing to give the guy a chance. Everybody likes pleasant surprises.

This looks pretty good for our backline, but we still need 2 CB's and a back up Left Back, and of course a striker wouldnt hurt.

We seem to have a pretty tall backline so far with Attakora, Gomez, Harden, and Rai. Pylon needs to go.

GK- Frei, Conway, Kasic

LB- Rai, NEED
CB- Harden, NEED*
CB- Gomez, Pylon
RB- Attakora, Hernon

LM-Saric, Gala
CM-DeGuzman, Joseph
CM-LeBrocca, Sanyang
RM-Cronin, Peterson

ST-DeRosario, NEED
ST-White, Barrett, Ibrahim

If not, then one could have said, "we shouldn't have signed Dichio" before he even played a match, given that he was a journeyman striker.

Sorry but stereotyping comes in handy on occasion.

The percentage of foreign signings we get that are useful has been very low. Considering it's still the same guy pulling the trigger we have justified reason to be doubtful. The big buyer beware sign on the front (aka knee problems) shouldn't fill anyone with hope either.

No, with an organization like MLSE it's lazy to pick out one guy and dump all the blame on him (and with the amount of peope in TFC repped by the same agency we don't even know who is really running the team). It's also dangerous because if the problems really do extend further they'll never get fixed if people will be satisfied with what could really be a minor change in middle managment.

Here's a question that I'm sure everyone will respond wih a "No", Has anyone seen him play?

I too have been very disappointed with the calibre of players that have been brought in the past but no one has a clue whether this guy can play until he actually plays.

And here's another question, since when has Wikipedia been reliable when it comes to injuries? He was in camp training so how "serious" a knee injury was it?

Oldtimer
04-09-2010, 08:48 PM
The only reason that we are signing someone so obscure is that Mo has so badly mismanaged the cap, that we need a really cheap solution -- i.e. someone from a no-name league who would sign for the MLS minimum.

Also, it appears the last time he played a competitive match was November 8, 2009.

It's interesting to see the shift in philosophies the club has had over 4 years. First we were essentially a replica of a team you might see in League 1 in England, then there was a Canadian focus to add to that starting midway in year 2 and now a shift to lesser known players with an emphasis on Eastern Europe to begin year 4.

Usanov(SP?) confirmed as well?

I could tell you, but I'd have to....actually, I'll just tell you.

The first time the press release went out, Usanov's name was in the headline but nowhere else. A correction was sent out a few minutes later removing his name from the headline.

I'd say it's pretty likely they'll have him signed today.

the reported signing and the secondary signing are great and all, but who's going to put the ball in the net?? Any news on a striker?

I hope he has a head on his shoulders, some pace and can put in a decent cross.

I hope he has a head on his shoulders as well or else we are getting desperate for new signings.

Judging by the way our defense plays, well if the headless guy could put in a decent cross Id be tempted to sign him too.

TFC should hold a competition for the first fan to pronounce Raivis Hscanovics correctly

Winner gets a roster spot.

My Latvian father says its "Rye-vis Ska-no-vics"

...and I am a striker, 6'0, age 17...
