2-1 TFC

Its likely Garcia is going to play, Preki mentioned Joseph could play LB and Gala. Ibbe could start out wide and could be a chance to see if the young guys can hold down the wide positions and are ready to play in the MLS.

We need White to have a good year and De Guzman/Cronin need to be top notch. JDG in particular needs to show he is getting big money. Im looking to those three players in particular to have a strong day. With younger players like Gala and new players, these three need to carry the day.

Maybe Gargan replaces Garcia, with Preki hinting at Gala or Joseph starting fullback, either one of those guys would be a good shot unless this Latvian signs and plays. Apparently, some Latvians rate him highly, hopefully he is healthy and able to play.

I've never been at Shoeless Joe's during a game :o but I bet there's normally lots happening there. Not sure if there's anything "official" there tomorrow since many people are heading to Boston.

Scallywag's, whenever I was there, there were a bunch of TVs on the TFC game. There are 3 levels, so room even if there are competing events. Atmosphere varies.

those who don't learn from their history are doomed to repeat it - or something.

That's the one I feel most uncertain about. Both yesterday and this morning Garcia looked very confident. I think the warm up/light session they had this morning will leed Preki to make the final decision as to who should start. If it was up to me? I wouldn't put Garcia in.

As Ensco says, he might choose to unleash the Gargan

Dickov's not just a yappy bastard, he hunts defenders down and finishes every tackle, which i love, but not something MLS refs seem to allow you to do. We'll see, i'm still keeping hope alive..until Garcia starts (how do you do the "throwing up in your mouth emoticon?")

Big no. Keep him out of here, he hasn't even scored in league 1 this year. Chad Barrett can provide the hard work and pesky stuff, let someone else provide the goals.

Being 38 and running around in league 1 is different than being 38 running around in MLS in the middle of the summer. He relies overly on his conditioning and that's going to be disappearing at his age.

He'll be slow, drained of energy by the second half, and not scoring anything. Let's not waste our time.

How can we take Mo Johnston and the soccer side of TFC seriously? There must be a ton of print article quotes over the years and youtube interviews with Mo (at least one on GOL TV) last year where he clearly stated that he wasn't interested (nor did he expect we the fans) in 34, 35, or 36 years olds. How can Johnston make such comments and than have the courage to stand up in front of the TFC public. If he does indeed invest in Dickov later in ther year it better be because the team is in contention, otherwise why invest in an a player on his last legs when a team is "building" for 2011 (cringe).
I mean this not as a knock on Dickov, though history dictates that most English players who have come to MLS have been largely unsuccessful (Ian Butterworth, Rohan Ricketts, Andy Welsh, Chris Walker, Paul Rideout) or plagued by injuries (Huckerby, Beckham).

Huckerby wasn't really plagued though... same with Becks. Becks came in injured at the halfway mark but was fine the next season. Huckerby really energized San Jose for over a season, although had his problems at the end.

Dichio was successful, if misused and not surrounded by much of a supporting cast. Robinson was successful in his first season although he declined in ability as the seasons passed.

I think you can find successes and failures of every nationality in MLS. Successes and failures of South Americans... successes and failures of Canadians and Americans... successes and failures of Africans from various nations etc.
