This may be a dumb question, but maybe someone can help me out:

Does MLS review each game and award supplementary discipline for things that don't get called by the ref?

I'm thinking specifically of the Columbus player who kicked Frei. Could he get fined for that?

Or can players only get extra discipline for things that are carded in the game?

Your answer is in bold.

No, they call me and I dole out "Supplementary Discipline" such as:
-Dipping their shorts in glue then glass and forcing them to wear them for 3 weeks. Practices included.
-Putting a wedge of cheese in Conor Caseys shoe then after the game forcing the offender to eat it during the post game interview.
-For keepers I make Garcia there central defender for a game (harsh I know).

There are clauses for supplementary discipline in the League's rules, but I've not seen any policies spelled out as to what it entails, and have never read anything about it actually occurring, unlike in Europe.

I remember at least 1 or 2 instances where a player was given a harsher penalty than the standard.

The league has a discipline committee that reviews all cards.
