Love it, total slap in the face to columbus. Wish they would've shown how big the crowd actually was rather than just discuss it.

"Very important for US soccer and the re-emergence of Columbus Crew is the fact that somebody else came into their house and in many ways, they took it over."

Clownbus fans are pained to admit that their now well organized support owes a great deal of thanks to the Toronto fans who came and showed them up in 2008.

In essence, the Nordecke would not exist were it not for Toronto. And every time I watch a Clownbus game, I smirk at the thought that deep down inside, they all know it.

Embarrassing them in their house will always be a proud sore point that we've inflicted on them; finally getting those results will only be salt in those wounds. :D

Speaking of TFC fans, there seemed to be a lot less than opening day last year. Were they "protesting" because of how they were "treated" last year? http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif Or did they realize that driving to Columbus to watch their shit team get thrashed isn't as appealing as it once was?

I know it was hard for many of us not to attend this Columbus game... It was definately a sacrifice.... Also, there is no doubt in my mind at least 60% of those who were at Joe's would have been there... My many thanks to those who bit the bullet... Reports show that Police were actually much better this time around (someone said 200% better)...

From the NEE board:

I must say....security and police in Columbus were top notch. Not one ejected TFC supporter or fan, NO arrests, NO fights, NO SHIT.

Props to TFC FO who in collaboration with the league and Crew organized this trip with the right mentality and security vision.

I would like to see all future trips to Columbus and elsewhere being handled like this. I know DC always does as well...but this was an example how to do things.

Don't panic....let people do their thing, hold us in until everyone cleared out and then escort us to the buses.

Well done...

Sounds good, looks like the Crew FO is finally getting their act together. $$$ talks.

Bill Archer's response:

The game they'e all talking about was TWO GODDAM YEARS AGO.

What about, gee let me think, oh yes TWO ********IN DAYS AGO? You know, the game that they can't even figure out how to show all the goals from because of their technical ineptitude?

What the hell is this: memory lane? They have a website that has virtually nothing that tells you what's going on and they waste their time putting together a tongue bath for TFC about a game 24 months ago?

What idiot is in charge over there?

The fact is that for a decade the Crew had a pathetic number of supporters until the "invasion" forced them to get their act together.

If Toronto has a decent season and a productive off season that gives people reason for excitement 6K wouldnt be that difficult. And it wouldnt need to be all RPB or other SGs. If the team is playing well, every random front runner will come out of the woodwork.

Of course, that will mean lots of random drunken morons sullying the name of our great city, but who gives a fuck what anybody in Columbus thinks anyways.

I'm sorry but I can vividly remember thread, upon thread, upon blog of Crewsers calling for everyone to bring a friend and that person bring a friend and that person bring 2 other people as to 'not let those Hosers take over our stadium'.
It was this cry that led to the amount of support that they have today.
Before TFC came along the Crew supporter groups were fighting amongst themselves as to where they should SIT for the matches.
It was the Northern Red Storm (along with newly built stage) that solidified their goups and helped them come together.

We ordered a Code Red and they can't handle the truth.

SO VERY TRUE! OMG...the denial that goes on among the Crew supporters is laughable.

I have PICTURES of their supporters section that day and despite their efforts you describe above, it was still only a fraction of the support they now have today. Which in a word is indeed admirable. But there is no doubt by anyone anywhere (unless you wear the piss yellow) that what you see today is a direct result of March 2008 when TFC fans came down and showed up Columbus fans in their home stadium.

Well, they can claim that they had hundreds of supporters just on the verge of joining their merry band, but the facts on the ground were they had 60 (or whatever other two digit number you want to choose) people in their supporters section in 2008 when we had 2500 there.

I'll give you guys credit where credit is due, and stand corrected at the same time. I thought there was no way in hell anyone would stand up and take notice of the 'boycott" or "change of plan" at any level, so what was the point. This is really something else. Combine with the good reports coming from treatment on the weekend, and this video, and you'd be hard pressed not to think that the "message" has been received.

First TFC game I went to in 2007 I knew this club was something special because we have the best firm in the MLS. I am a student at Brock University, and I cant believe how many TFC fans there are when I walk through the halls. When I wear my jersey, people stop me to tell me that they are also Toronto till they die. I know our club may not be the best in the MLS today, but when this league becomes what we all know it will be, TFC will be known world wide.
One day when people sing "when the reds go marching in" they wont just think of Liverpool.
I cant wait to tell my kids one day, that yes, I actually saw Danny Dicho play, and yes, he was that special.

For sure. Our own people saying we embarrassed Columbus into getting its act together can be dismissed as propaganda by the KKKrew. The commish and other league officials saying so puts Columbus fans in a hard spot to deny the truth of it. And that their own coach admits it just kills them to the point where they'll probably just deny the video exists because they can't refute the truth of it.
