I see 63 listed on the main thread. Add in the NEE and USector and people who will make the trek with no supporter group allegiance and it must be over 100 by now.

I went last year, think I will buy a game ticket and keep working on getting spousal approval :)

Not sure if I'm going to sit in the TFC section. If it was anything like our Columbus road trip... then no. I'll have to find a family friendly section.

QFT... Chicago was the best trip by far I went on last season (others were Columbus, DC)...

The city is great...
The atmosphere with the shuttles to the game is awesome...
The SSS atmosphere is just incredible with us going mental...
The feeling in the group being together was amazing (met so many friends on the bus, in the rooms, etc etc etc)...

I figure this season I can make only one trip other than the opener - and even though I have hit Chicago before, I'm going back...

I'm jacked...

Flush, we need to sort out some support things with all the groups, we need to come correct like we did at Stade de Fromage. Drums in one place, U-Sector guys taking over the capo duties, and we need to do a proper corteo to the grounds. Get at me, we need to make this epic.

I agree with the Drums, but not with the Capo bit (no this is not a "don't tell me what to do" comment)

Road trips are the #1 opportunity for new and spontaneous chants/songs. People learn new ones on the busses, in the pubs and everywhere in between.

You'll finally have a solid group of people who all want to chant and sing. Its be best time to be spontaneous!!!

If we have a capo, his role shouldn't be to lead, it should be to pick through the chants (if there are multiples going on) and then encourage everyone to join the dominant chant.

If we end up with 30 mins of forza T.O. i'm going to shoot myself.

Sorry to be negative, but I hope you will see the positive point I'm trying to make. This is a huge opportunity, let's not waste it by being too prescriptive with the chants.

Jack
06-19-2008, 09:10 PM
The thing is Mike, that's what the capo does. It's not just to tell people what to chant. It's to help unify when there are divided chants... or pick up a sponataneous chant and spread it.

It's not a little dictator at the front of the section with a song list.

canadian_bhoy

Yeah I know that, that's what I said above.

But in addition to picking up the standard chants and getting everyone on the same page, people need to pay attention to new/spontaneous/different chants. If a capo can pick those up and get them going as well, then that's great.

As long as its done right, I'm fine with it, but if people actually paid attention to the match and listened to what chants were being started, we wouldnt' need a capo.

Jack
06-19-2008, 09:15 PM

I love you buddy (no homo), but back off already with the spontaneous shit. Were you in Montreal? No? Then you have no idea how good the support can be with capos that know what they're doing, and the two guys that hold the megaphone for U-Sector knew what they were doing. I've never seen TFC supporters better, and I want to surpass that in Chicago. We've proven it works in Montreal, no need to debate this over and over again. You want us to emulate the weakest supporters in the world, no thanks.

Why is it ok to say "enough with the spontaneous talk, we know how you think"....yet its fine to constantly talk about getting Capo's going.

One opinion is alright and the other isn't? That's dumb.

First of all, if Chicago is anything like Columbus was, they will confiscate the megaphone anyway, so this won't even be an issue.

Because we've seen the "spontaneous drunken mob" model without any organization or leadership you want us to adopt, chanting becomes a jumbled mess.

We've seen what proper organization does, go ask anyone that was in Montreal. No more fucking talk is needed. TFC != Celtic. Get over yourself, this is all about not wanting to get told what to do. Your ego is getting in the way of supporting the team.

^^

I don't think that's an accurate assessment, Mas. His point is, he doesn't want a capo to squash any spontaneity or creativity of new chants or chants that go with the flow of the game.

I mean, I agree with the fact that the capo has to be quick on his feet and if someone comes up with a good chant, then he can help spread it around.

"It's past your bedtime" last year was a good one.

Did you ever consider that the reason why DC and Montreal were good this season is due to the fact that it was the first time a concentration of
TFC fans that wanted to chant were all together since Chicago or DC last season and now they know the chants and have more experience?

You trying to tell me that 100 people in Montreal needed a guy 5 feet away to yell into a megaphone to figure out which chant people were getting going? I refuse to think that people are that dumb.

The fact is that people know the chants better now, people are more comfortable with the group in the stands.

Also, since you've already made up your mind about my posts before you read them, I don't know why I bother, BUT if you read my first post, i specifically said that this has NOTHING to do with "don't tell me what to do" and everything to do with creativity and spontenatiy. Many of the chants that have become well known to TFC fans started on the road spontaneously.

I'm trying to sneak in... since the weekend came free... but:

a) not sure i can EMT payment (read: can't EMT)
b) not sure i want to bus. :)

if i can sort those two out... i'm there!

Take the bus, then claim it on your taxes as "Enviromental Support" and try to milk the government for some kind of refund... :D

The bus trip is goodtimes...

Send an email to rpbinchicago@hotmail.com to reserve your seat. I'm going to try and convince my friends, as of now they've been reluctant to give me an answer. How many 4 person hotel rooms are left?

Everyone that has booked package A,B,C or D, & hasn't sent in names & contact info for everyone in there
room please do this ASAP as the hotel's require a rooming list from us by Monday.

For those of you that have not paid in full, please EMT your final payment ASAP or if your paying cash I
will be at Shoeless Joes from 1:30 - 3:30 & from 6:00 - 7:00 July 1st for the whitecaps game.

For those of you that bought package "F" tickets only, we still have 13 spots left on the 3rd shuttle bus,
these shuttles are a great time & a cheap way to get from Downtown to the stadium & Back, you can upgrade
for $5 per person.

We should have the tickets from the Fire front office by July 5th (Pachuca game) they will be available for

We will send out more updates as information becomes available.
