Yesterday at practice DeRo and White took a bunch of extra striking practice at the end of the practice. That would be my guess for at least part of the time up front.

lacking creative playmaker (i dunno enough about this Saric dude), it'll be JDG holding the ball and feeding to DeRo who'll have to feed into channels for White and Barrett to run on to. Bad DeRo game means bad TFC offence this year... again

Interesting line-up. I really think your centre defensive pairing would work well. They both showed well Saturday. I think Wynne will prob start though, and not sure about DeRo's fitness after the strain.

Also, not sure about whether Preki will go with a projected starting line-up for opening day, or trialists? I thought he said coming in he was going to find out who the starters were. I thought this meant play them together, but he may still want to take a look at a number of different players. Should be interesting... though at the end of the day, all that matters is a win on opening day!

That's why I want to see it in a pre-season against an MLS side, to see if it could work or not. I've seen it with Egypt NT and our right wingback (Ahmed El Mohamady) is much better offensively than defensively, with our 3 CBs taking care of business. I think it's worth the try. We've (Egypt) won 3 continental titles and whooped everyone's ass on the way, thanks to this formation that's not so popular these days. If it works, then great. If it doesn't, then we blacklist it. I want Wynne on the right wing because of his pace only. I know he'd get caught off-guard a few times, but I think the 3 CBs, Brennan returning back from the left side and the 2 sitting defensive midfielders would cover up.

I don't know about Saric either, but all the people who watched him at the Disney Pre-season tournament said he's one of the few positives of that tournament and his football IQ is pretty high. I've also been told that he can be a real box-to-box threat, but I figure we already have JDG and should deploy him in that role. Saric can definitely play a DM/CM role, with JDG infront of him. Again, it would be a good test, just like Preki tested Ibrahim Said as a right winger.

I'd like to see this exact 3-5-2, even if it's just for the first half. It's better to try out this stuff now, then for the last game against RSL, which is our last match before the season opener (if there's no lock out).

My thoughts exactly. Let's say there is a strike, and the season is canceled. As far as I can tell, we get:

To drop Robinson's 175k (since he was only guaranteed through this season)
To drop Garcia's 200kish (since he was only guaranteed through this season)
To drop Gerba's 177k (since he was only guaranteed through this season)

So, essentially, we would save 500k of deadweight, and have an entire year to find a solution to our striker problem, instead of having a few weeks and no money in the budget. Plus, Garcia will have a brilliant look on his face after realizing that he pushed a strike that essentially took away his last year of earning potential in the league, leaving him without a salary at all.

We are in trouble, no doubt about it, so bad I feel, that, although not from us fans, that our franchise support may be seriously hurt at the end of this year. Remember there are a lot of experienced soccer fans that think this league is very minor and Mr. Moe is not only screwing us the fans, but he seriously could be singlehandedly be ruining this franchise. I hope not, but I am getting VERY uncomfortable. P.S. our first touches are disgusting and is it not possible to hold on to a ball longer than say 2 touches ?

So, essentially, we would save 500k of deadweight, and have an entire year to find a solution to our striker problem, instead of having a few weeks and no money in the budget. Plus, Garcia will have a brilliant look on his face after realizing that he pushed a strike that essentially took away his last year of earning potential in the league, leaving him without a salary at all.
