The American outfit are said to have laid a deal on the table that would see the Barça star earn around €32m-per-year after tax, according to El Mundo Deportivo.

That staggering contract would be split down the middle with Ronladinho having a €16m playing contract as well as receiving a further €16m for image rights.

After making a profit on the capture of Beckham from Real Madrid, the Galaxy hierarchy believe that they could also do the same with the Blaugrana's fallen idol.

Barcelona are open to the plan after the MLS side also put a bid of €26m to them before going on to outline the deal to the player's brother and agent, Roberto de Assis.

Galaxy look set to be left disappointed though in the same way that Manchester City may fail with their quest to take the player to the Premier League.

Ronaldinho's representatives have made it clear that at 28, the player still believes that he can perform at the top level in European football and is holding out for a Champions League team.

Chelsea are said to be considering a move with new coach Luiz Felipe Scolari to decide after Euro 2008, while AC Milan are still in contact despite them cooling their interest recently.

While Ronaldinho remains in Brazil on holiday, there is also the outside chance that he could remain with Barcelona after lengthy talks with incoming boss Pep Guardiola having taken place.

Obviously he isnt going to sign, but assume he did...

How the fuck can the Galaxy sign him with the DP's and big contracts they already have?

MLS is so fucking rinky dink mickey mouse sometimes it really makes me question where its going.

And where the fuck is MLSE with their stupid money? Why havent we been linked to anybody?!

I am having difficulty believing that he'd even consider signing now, but one thing I'd like to know is how the Hell could they manage all those players under this cap??

With that said...Donovan would be gone.

They're not big on team depth over in L.A.. Too many eggs in too few baskets. They must be making boatloads off the Beckham merchandise to want to do this, because the're ticket sales and prices don't seen large enough to warrant another big purchase like this.

Ya gotta laugh at the statement that LA figure they could make a profit on Ronaldinho. Like no fuckin shit. Do they really think that makes them unique or what the fuck.

it'll be another instance of MLS cheating to make the Galaxy their marquee team.

If Ronaldinho were to sign with the Galaxy, I'd bet any money that MLS will announce that each team will get another DP slot, and there will be no limitations on how many DP slots a team can own. This will also lead to the salary cap being raised to epic proportions or being abolished altogether. Then the league will start allowing ridiculous trades involving LA where they will trade a draft pick and some allocation money for both of San Jose's DP slots. Soon a huge influx of talent will be interested in joining MLS, more specifically, the Galaxy. Soon the Galaxy will field a team looking like this:

-------------------Buffon(DP)-------------------
--Xavier-R.Ferdinand(DP)-Jazic-Carvalho(DP)------
--Beckham(DP)-Klein-Ronaldinho(DP)-Ballack(DP)--
-------------Donovan----D.Villa(DP)--------------

which will lead to all supporter groups (minus LA's) eventually banding together and destroying MLS headquarters, thus forcing the league to fold. In turn, the sport authority of America will end up banning the practice, watching and discussion of "soccer" for 10 years, and will convince the CSA to cease operations thus disqualifying Canada from South Africa 2010 (which Canada won the right to by beating Chile 4-3 in a come from behind win in the playoff for the final CONCACAF/CONMEBOL spot) and as a result of, setting back Canadians in the sport about 40 years.

(a little farfetched yes, but you never know with this league) :P

AEG just astonishes me. After years and years of preaching about how MLS will avoid the errors of NASL, now they want to blow a hole in the boat by creating this "super" team of European stars with a payroll that none of the other teams in the league can keep up with. Single entity in the early years was a godsend. Maybe its time to rethink single entity now that there are more ownership resources in the league, but to consciously set up the same payroll arms race is so stupid.

http://www.dailystar.co.uk/football/view/41195/Ronaldinho-is-to-join-Becks/

These guys say,

"The whole idea is for the Galaxy to expand into the South America and Hispanic market given that Becks already has mass appeal in America, Europe and south-east Asia."

Oh, that's good. You wouldn't want to pick up players to try and win games or anything...

:jaw:

not myself. You know how incompetent LA's front office is.

They built the team around Beckham and Donovan so much that when they're injured/int'l call up, etc.. the team resembles something close to a under 12 house league team. I was implying that THEY would keep him
