The most obvious point has been hammered down again and again: In a World Cup year in which U.S. television and the general public will be footycentric like never before, how stupid would these people look, and how damning an indictment of their big-league hopes and dreams would it be for them to fail at the bargaining table?

I have a bad feeling that MLS is dumb enough to allow strike to happen.:(

After reading that article and others discussing what the implications of a strike would be, I'm pretty confident that the players and league will reach a deal. Obviously, I think the players union is going to be playing hardball and squeezing MLS for as much as they can up until the deadline, but MLS knows that 2010 will be a HUGE year or the sport - both here in North America and around the world. When you consider the projected success of Philly's new club, the impending completion of Red Bull Arena, and the continued financial success of Seattle and Toronto as well as expansion plans more or less complete for Vancouver and Portland - it really would be stupid to throw all that away over a labour dispute like this.

I hope our buys actually show up in Charleston. We could really use this win!

SSG: I first thought she was a tomboy, but after considering what's being shown on TV about Chaz Bonno, its almost like you have to assume that if there's a doubt its probably good to go with that doubt.:drinking:

Serioux: I hope the move to Houston doesn't affect his recovery and art hobbies.

MLS Disputes:

IMO, since this is the first real players union/owners meeting there's going to be some hard bargaining and because of the differences on both sides the season will start as scheduled, but neither side will give in to the other. I was glad when I read there was going to be a medigator, but I dont think they will strike.

Dobson and Forrest had some interesting things to say on soccercentral, even they are frustrated with Toronto FC.

They said the best thing probably for TFC is a MLS strike.....I agree....we have a shit team so far....with all the players gone out.

Hopefully these 'trialists' who NO one (probably not even Mo) know who are coming in help us out.

After last season everyone said the most important thing was to get a real coach in as soon as possible - we were very worried that the team would wait until, well, about now to hire a new coach. Then they surprised us and hired one right after theseason ended. Most people were cautiously optimistic that Preki would get the team moving in the right direction but understood that he'd have to really clean house and make some big changes to do that.

So, is that what we're seeing?

Yup. Especially if Said signs as a our new CB. If Said signs these wish list items will have happened in the off season:

1-Sign a reputable coach with MLS experience. Preki would be nice.
DONE

2-Sign a reputable CB. Strong and tough. IF Said signs.
DONE

3-Get rid of a lot of dead weight to make room for new players.
DONE

4-Start playing players at their natural positions.
Hopefully done.

I'm not gonna get protest mad until we shit the bed. If/When that happens it will be a full on PROTESTACULAR

Honestly, I want to see how much of an individual Preki is.

His interviews tell me he's not happy with this team and the way they are progressing.
He's being very politically correct right now, trying to keep his cards close to his chest, but we'll see in mid July if he can keep all of that frustration inside.

If the team isn't doing well by mid season, he's going to have a lot of media and fans on his ass asking for answers. Guy like Wheller and Cathal will not let up on him. We'll see what he has to say then. Is he really a Mo man or is there an individual inside of Mo's Ex teammate?
