Are we ready for this ? Not us, I mean TFC. Do we have the depth ?

We'll really see if Winsper's training regimen is effective now. It's worked for us so far. Nothing to speak of other than JJ's shoulder. But this will really put it to the test.

I expect we'll see everyone get trotted out at some point - even Edwards in goal. He deserves another go at it.

It'll be interesting to see what the shape of the team is when we come out the other side.

Definitely, a big test for the boys. I think Robert, Ricketts, and Tébily may have the most trouble, as they have played little in the past year.

This will be a great opportunity for JJ, Cunny and Teibily to get some playing time. We might even get a Lombardo sighting.

There has to be a game or two in there where we'll see Edwards in goal and James/Phelan in front of him sending long balls up to Gala.

I say this should be the May 21 game against DCU - that looks to be the easiest.

No doubt, for us, it will make up for the 0 games in 15 days, but yes, pity the players. It will be a good test for them though, and it won't be the last bit of adversity they'll face this season either (players missing because of international commitments, Olympics, etc.)

It is quite simple.

League games - use your starting regular players.
Canada Cup matches - use the backup/reserves or whatever they are called:confused:. They are playing USL teams and if they can't win with the reserve players the hell with it.

The priority should be on the leaguee matches and trying to win each match to strenghten our playoff position

People were complaining about the time between games...but this downtime was needed for our players. Now the real test begins...let's hope they can hold up.

And we need to be behind them the whole way...

THAT'S WHY WE NEED MORE ON THE DC TRIP PEOPLE!

Kind of off topic...

But perhaps TFC shouldn't have scheduled the kickoff dinner in the middle of this stretch...

They should have done it during the 14-days off, that way the boys could have really hit the booze and partied it up... But Playing on the 27th, then again on the 31st, hopefully they won't hit the sauce too hard on the 28th... LOL...

Anyways, just seems odd to another another gig during an extremely busy stretch, when there was a 'dead patch' earlier in the month...

Then again, I'm kind of picking at straws LOL...

I'm not sure I agree with that. Of course, league matches are important but the CCL is going to be huge. It's important to gain exposure and play against top teams. Besides, a USL team beating out an MLS team to the CCL is not good for the health of the league. If we're viewed as a bush league, then good players won't come/stay.

Frankly, as someone who thinks USL is underrated -- and anyone who watched the Whitecaps methodically dissemble the Galaxy last night should -- compared to MLS, I say we play full strength and treat the CCL with respect. If our reserves played the Whitecaps and Vancouver had the same movement and number of chances as in Edmonton, we'd probably be crushed.

Crew on the 17th
United home and home
Galaxy

will be great games for tfc to see where they are near 2 and half months into the season.

The DC home and home is going to be nerve-wrecking for most of us. We have had some pretty bad results against DC, but I think all will agree (even DC supporters) that we have a much stronger team today than we ever did.

Eh ?

You may be inclined to field a weaker squad against a perceived inferior foe, like if you were Liverpool facing Barnsley (and look how that turned out), but the chasm between the three teams competing for the Canada Cup (and with it a spot in the CCL) is hardly as wide.

TFC should focus on this tournament in order to make sure they get into the one that counts. I say put out the best available squad at first and coast in if possible - it's not a knockout torney, after all.

I guess my rational is based on my lack of interest in the Canada Cup games. I really don't care for these games or matches. The whole tourney was set up as a money making scheme for the 3 teams TFC, Vancouver and Montreal. Maybe if and when TFC qualify for the conacaf tournament I may take more of an interest. For now I'm not interested in these matches.

QFT... they must have it in the bag before they even consider sitting our best players

That you do. But I think our team looks at your team like the way they look at Chivas, ie: a foreign team they must beat, so they get amped up more for those games :D

I think you'll (we'll all) care when we're playing some of the best teams from CONCACAF ;), this (playing in the CCL) can only be good for our club, and will help draw better players to TO IMO

These matches are incredibly important for our credibility in Canada as well

By saying that, it seems to me that you're not at all interested in the big tournament.
This preliminary tournament isn't a stand alone cash grab - it's the only way for a Canadian team to qualify for the big tournament.
In essence, it is part of the big tournament.

It is a big tourney that could lead into a direct battle with the big boys, I would love to see TFC play someone like Joe Public, Also it will be great to see Serge in action at BMO on the 1st, knowing what he went throught last year makes it great just to see him back on the pitch.

Less recovery time for the players will leave them susceptible to injury, fingers crossed we come through this stretch and continue our march.

Regarding the CCL qualifiers, I believe these matches are of great importance and Toronto will need to field its best players to get by the competition.

The CC games are VERY important to this club. We should strive to win everything we enter, that's what the good teams do.

The CC is the launch pad for International exposure & attracting good players & wider acceptance in the media.

If we take them (USL Teams) lightly we'll get our asses bitten.

You can bet Vcr & Mtl we be up for them

Ofcourse its important. It has to be because Toronto FC will make a shite load of money if they qualify for CCL. First they have to win the Canada cup, then they will hope to go far in champions league and then $$$ will come flowing in. I expect a quality side out agianst Montreal and Vancouver.
