What like 5 Canadian tourists in Cancun. I've been there, fucking tourist go there like they own the place. They are soo annoying. They were probably involved in drugs too.

Anyways back on topic, I'm not liking the fact of having New England in our group.

Haven't taken your relaxation pill yet today? I kid, I kid. As for New England, I don't think it will necessarily be a problem: we haven't played them yet with our improved team so who knows how that will turn out?

Not so fast... after CC, you have to win the prelim round to earn a spot in group stages

We've always been murked (except for that last home game) against the Revs, but if the top 2 advance then I'm confident.

True, these Mexican clubs are dangerous.

There is another distinct advantage of playing Atlante as opposed to any other Mexican opponent and that's altitude. Altitude and smog make it IMPOSSIBLE to win on the road in Mexico if players' bodies are not acclimatised to the conditions. With Atlante, there's no elevation and no smog. Just hot weather but they'll be playing at night so no need to worry.

If we play Real Esteli, it wont be that bad weather wise. It's pretty cool as it is 800m up.

Hell its even nicknamed "The City of The Pines". Pine tree next to the church:

There's potential for a Nicauraga Labour Day road trip. If we win against Montreal/Vancouver, then on Saturday August 30th (Labour Day weekend) we play away in LA against Chivas ... and then on the Tuesday in Nicauraga ... about $1,150 airfare including taxes. Hmm, only $760 from Buffalo - I'd be tempted for a quick vacation if I didn't have a baby!

If we get through to the group stage it actually looks like we'd be in pretty tough. I can't see the Revs having problems getting by Joe Public -- so we'd be in a group with the best team in MLS this year, plus a good Mexican squad, either a Guat. or Hond. team.

Definitely a tough draw.

Man our guys are going to be tired, and seriously jetlagged

This is something like 15,000 km of flying and 5 big games in 14 days

Aug 23 here vs Revs (huge league game for us, NE's only visit)
Aug 27 here v Nicarauguan team
Aug 30 at Chivas
Sep 2 at Nicaraugua
Sep 6 Chivas here

Hate to say it, but CONCACAF could really hurt our league playoff chances

what stage of the season would these teams be in? spring training??

it always seemed like, in the old champions cup or whatever it was called, the mexican teams had an advantage cuz they were in midseason form when our MLS teams were just in spring training.
it would seem to be reversed in this case for the prelims.

I see the price to Nicaragua for $689 with tax totaling $810 per person, so price wise its not that bad!

But then again, why do you think we have all the depth we do?

Edwards can easily play in net for the Canadaian Championship games and we would still have the same chance of qualifying for CONCACAF with him in net insted of Sutton (Plus, the more Edwards plays the more he will be ready for starts possibly in the Playoffs, b/c of WCQs by then)

Plus, since we can really see what Carver is doing in the practices maybe he has started to think of how crammed the schedule might get and he might be starting to prepare for it by changing the practices to promote endurance a little more.

Also, we could be adding more players through the transfer window (DP striker anyone?)

I say we don't dwell on this until it gets closer to the actuall game time, and when we qualify for the CCL.
