FRANKFURT -- Eintracht Frankfurt goalkeeper Oka Nikolov is set to leave the Bundesliga club after more than 18 years and move to Major League Soccer's New York Red Bulls. Eintracht chairman Heribert Bruchhagen said Wednesday the 35-year-old goalkeeper had turned down a two-year contract extension offer and told the club he wants to go to the United States. Frankfurt media said he was heading to Red Bulls, the worst team in the league last season at 5-6-19.
Nikolov has been at Eintracht since summer 1991.
Also, Eintracht announced it had released striker Mehdi Mahdavikia to Asin Steel Tehran and was seeking to sign Halil Altintop from Schalke.
