Send Details over, and I should be in for this

RPB Members will be getting their trip info package shortly, but we encourage all supporters to go on their own if they are not RPB members... their will be a supporters section.

Likewise if you haven't renewed or applied for an RPB membership the process will begin shortly for 2010... at any rate we just want supporters to go...one way or another.

The Banners are being painted, the flags are being made, and the drums are being tuned...

THIS WILL BE MASSIVE

i dont really get it, what do you really exspect columbus to do to accomdate us?? i mean besides maybe not having enough washrooms what else would they do?? and Montreal washroom situation was worse. And the cops didnt even show up so there was a full out brawl in Montreal.

and the pepper sprey and tazer thats not FO's control what the cops do. Cops are like that in Columbus, Toronto, Vancouver, Boston, LA you can go anywhere and find cops who are tazer happy, thats the cops decisions not the FO. And its not like we were angels well in columbus, alot of people were wasted starting shit. If people get out of hand in Boston trouble will happen there to.

And whos to say Boston will do anything different to accomondate TFC fans???

The funny thing is that we will probably go back to Columbus at some point en masse.

However, I am tired of MLS League fabricated rivalries... In 2009 we wanted a new season opener... what do they do? They give us Columbus as the closest roadtrip destination once again and create some stupid Trillium cup to fabricate a rivalry... I don't know about some of you, but I feel like a puppet? It's like the league is saying... yes go there TFC supporters... this is the team you should hate... this is the team that you should do all your season openers against.

Well enough is enough.

To finish my first paragraph:

The funny thing is that we will probably go back to Columbus at some point en masse. However, not when they tell us...

My Season Opener will begin in New England...

Short memory my friend ... the first year, Clownbus knew over 2K were coming and allocated a quagmire of a field lot with no toilet facilities , next to a church holding a wedding. ( bride and groom had the surname already)...

FluSH, when we eventually play Columbass in the playoffs on their turf - we should sanction RPB supported travel.

Until then they can kiss my *ss!

If they want to make $$$ off of us they had better hope - or help us make the playoffs.

By my estimate, if we come 1,500 strong we could contribute upwards of $1 million to their local economy.

Cue Ensco for the reality check......

prizby

Domin8r, i think that # is closer to $400k

DOMIN8R

Maybe, Prizby.

Guys like me would spend a weekend.

Accomodations at 100 (tax and gratuity) x 2 nights = $200
Meals 15 x 2 x 3 (+ gratuity) = $110
Travel (in city - gas, parking, taxis, etc.) $50
Booze (bars & gratuity + retail average) $65
Incidental (strip clubs, attractions and other sporting event (Blue Jackets, et all) - and other nonsense) $100

I've seen Lower East Sider do it for $100
I've seen others do it for $1,000

It's an estimate. I could be well off the mark. On the other hand, if we make the playoffs and bring over 2 thousand......?

Sorry - I'm off topic here. I'm done.

prizby
02-01-2010, 11:21 PM
i guess i saw it a bit differently...i thought most ppl bused it

booze = 100
hotel = 30-50 (split cost)
ticket and bus = 40
meals = 60/70

260*1500 = 390,000

400k was off, i meant 500k

but i see it your way average 500/person *2000 ppl = 1 mil, makes sense

And a couple of those games are going to be mid-week (NY and Chicago). Philly will have very limited amount of seats available.

People who are holding out for those trips will be disappointed I think.

As for the 1000 in Boston...had it not been for the threat of a strike, I think we could have done it. It is what it is...the 400 going will be just as loud.

i think there only about 200 going to columbus. I thot New England was sapose to be a big trip +1,000 at least?

my self i just rather save my money to go to a more proper stadium like NY, Chi, Philly. I just pissed off we dont play away to any of these cities till like half way through the season.

Come on James... New England is going to be THE TRIP of the year...(unless we make the playoffs) The First Supporter Trip of the Season is usually the best... I went to Kansas City last year as the first supporters trip and it was unbelivable... and they played at a minor league baseball field!

Anyone staying in downtown Boston? What's the best way to get there using the transit/cab? Our last option is to rent a car but none of us wants to be the dd. Any help is much appreciated. Cheers.

There is 2 Hotels that we are staying at... RPB as a group. However, they are all soldout... in Foxborough I believe... someone mentioned that transit is pretty good in Boston though

We are staying near Fenway Park. As far as I see the public transit doesn't go out to Gillette stadium. I was just asking incase some of you guys/girls did this in previous years.

Coach himself has gone to New England 4 times... numerous guys have gone before...this will be my first... I say pm Coach

If at some point you want to take this to the next level and apply for a membership... that would help things out... I think we have a loosely produced guide in our member's only section.

Good Luck and see you in Boston!

We're hyping this shit up only on our members section.
Unfortunately, We can't publicly do as much publicly because we can only take RPB members on our road trips... TICO (Travel Industry Council of Ontario) forbids us from doing so...

going to Boston, 4 of us. "non members". call the ticket office at Gillette. ask for Karl. he can hook you up with tickets and other info. i'm sure TICO won't complain if a non member posts that. lol. he says they're working on approx 500 at this point but taking calls daily once the season was official and the closer the game gets.

Couldn't you promote the trip to the general public and when people show interest tell them they need to join the group to be able to go?

Could be a good way to recruit new members.

I've often thought that membership needs to be promoted a little more in the main forum.
It's on the front page of the website, but I don't about the rest of you, but I don't really pay much attention to that page.
The only link I click is to get me into the forum.
Perhaps a lot of other folks are like that too.
Maybe there needs to be a permanent button or link at the top of the forum that says something like:
- Find out about RPB Membership
- Not a member yet?
- What's involved with RPB Membership?

You get the idea... something that might entice non-members to learn more.
The link can take them to the existing membership info page.

We don't know if we are allowed to do that, however we will look more into this matter for our next trips,Montreal and PHILLY.
This rule is hurting TFC support first and foremost,we can't get the numbers that we would like to see on away games.I'm sure without this TICO regulation and we would have 1000 fans in Boston easy.
And all of this because Proway complained to TICO how we are taking business from them.

Domin8r, i think that # is closer to $400k

A million would indicate each person is spending almost $700 in Columbus. Your estimation suggests ~$280. I would imagine you are infinitely closer. $700 would indicate every does what I do with the Montreal trip and stay a few days in the city. Either that they are booking the best hotel rooms in the state of Ohio.

I mean what are the consequences if your caught promoting away trips to non members.

If this is not the thread for this conversation can someone PM me about it please? Im rather curious

I'm curious about this too.

What's stopping someone from saying "let's rent a bus and go to x"? You could just force everyone to get their own insurance if it was out of country and then get the insurance on the bus.

I think it's a conspiracy (On TICOs part) not the RPB Execs.

rocker
04-03-2010, 05:42 PM
i think TICO exists to protect consumers (even if it protects the bus companies). if you're gonna be a travel agent you have to be legally recognized. otherwise anybody could put together a tour operation and scam people out of money. but if you're a private organization you can arrange trips for your members (not the general public) without contravening TICO. so RPB can offer buses to dues-paying members -- that's legal. Proway may be "checking up" to see if RPB are letting people on the bus who are not official members of the group. So you can't just pay for the trip. you also must have paid your RPB membership dues.

Do you renember when Rideshare companies were shut down by Greyhound in the 90s? It's the same thing, and can stand up in court. That's competition law for you.

Travel Industry Council of Ontario wasn't threatening anybody persay.

After seeing how many buses were heading down to Columbus, Doug from Proway Tours organized some buses to go to Columbus on the big invasion from seasons past and get a piece of the pie. Everyone who came back from the Proway Tour buses were shafted. They were late for the game and there were plenty of other horror stories. Proway Tours reputation was sent down the toilet. It was public knowledge on the TFC forums that Proway Tours is a disaster and shouldn't be used for road trips.

Fast forward to today. Doug from Proway Tours is pissed. He has the potential to make tons of money sending buses around for TFC fans. Problem is his companies reputation is so shit that no one is using his services. He's threatened on the Usector boards that he is going to report the buses going to New England to TICO. Apparently it's illegal to set up a bus like that for travel without a license or unless you own an organization with paying members. You can't organize a bus for general members of the public. That's why everything is so quiet around here unless you're a member. RPB is just trying to insure that they can get all there buses down without any troubles.
