I think they'd announce something as soon as they sign it, but it's probably a good sign that they're close... or at least a lot closer.

The contract would still have be ratified by the members for it to become binding.

That would need a player vote which, given the time of year would take a few days to arrange.

This is great news.
I'm glad he is staying... he's great for Seattle and good for MLS.

sometimes yes, sometimes no, it depends on wether there are niggling details left to be agreed or what the parties have agreed is communication protocol re: a pending announcement. every deal is different. Sometimes unions want to hold off on pending announcements until their ratification plan is set.
