No doubt about it he was the man of the match today. He was splendid.
I guess Carver's confidence in him paid off after all.
He is getting in shape and he will be our best player in the games to come.
I'm so happy with the outcome today in the absence of 5 starters. We have a great team :pbjtime:

I think Ricketts just finally realized that he has to do most of the offensive duties himself... which he more than has the abliities to, but he can't rely on feeding the ball to Cunningham.

Ricketts was unreal today. Imagine the frustration of the Rapids 11 when the tried to mark him. 1 man, 2 men, 3 men, no matter how many tried to mark him, he was able to dance away. Colorado's back 4 will be half way home by the time they figure out how he got around them.

I agree as well, 100%. He was MoM the first half, before he scored...unreal performance.

Now when we get him and Guevara and Robert operating all together we will give defenders throughout the league nightmares.

Well done, Rohan

you people neeed to make up your minds...either you like RR or hate him as a player....last game couple games ago people were saying how bad RR is playing this and that....Soccer players do have bad games if you guys didint know...but now that he scored 2 goals he's a HERO...i personally think overall hes a good player...

06-15-2008, 03:07 AM
That was a career changing game for Rohan. You know in hockey when a guy has an amazing playoff run and it changes his entire game and elevates him to the next level....that just happened. Ricketts has been at the tipping point in terms or fitness and overall play for the last three games and just exploded tonight. He may not score every night, but now we think he will, he will think he will, and defenders with think he will. That psychological edge is priceless. Do you think he dropped of the map in England because he was a bad player? It was a rash of injuries and a lack of confidence by coaching staff. Europe is entirely different beast where if you lose your spot its hard to get it back and some personalities don't react well to it. This guy is 25 years old.....concede defeat and go home.

That's what we are....Real Football Fans...We Love our players.
If you play Good = We Worship You.
If you play Bad = We rip you apart.
Now it's up to the players and what they want from us: Warshiping or ripping apart :D
I think it's a healthy relationship and we should remind our players that we are always there to support them and rip them apart when they stink.

What can you say man .. he's had some bad games, some average games, and now his best performance to date.

Needless to say some people have been a little quick to label his capibilities, but the analysis of his individual performances have pretty much gone along with how he played.

the nice thing about Ricketts is he's still relatively young after previously competing at some quite high levels. He still has time to master his game at the MLS level and meanwhile he could still have many many years with us. It's not like some 32 year old who has pretty much accomplished everything and will be gone in a few years.

Got to say, I always thought Ricketts was competent in the squad, he just didnt seem to have that killer instinct.

He definitely had it yesterday, and it was like the first goal fed the second. He knew he could score, did something quite audacious in the box, turned and buried it in the net like there was never going to be any other outcome.

What a scorcher.

And definitely equal with DD's last goal, last year for most spectacular goal viewed from 112.

I just remember the threads where ppl were saying that smith should start instead of ricketts. If I had a plate I would give to a large majority of you, so that you can all eat your own words...yum yum.

This proves to me that many of you are far too quick to jump down players throats and criticize many aspects of the team....Did you honestly think everyone would click at once....no...you just said these are our new players and they must play amazing from the get go.....if they dont we will trashtalk the shit out of them as if they're not even worthy to play.

My msg to all you ppl who used to say ricketts was shit(and I know you're out there, I've read the threads, theres no denying it).

My msg: "Shut the fuck up and support the team that you have, criticizing their play to no end, is not effective at all, chirping the players and their performance just makes you look like you have nothing else better to do, and makes you look stupid when you're wrong, if thats all you got, then you seriously need to get a life."

Does talking about what you think should have happened or how this team should be coached or who should have played really affect anything in the end??? I doubt it.

This is how I feel. WTF?

Ok let's make this one big cheerleading board. When someone shits the bed on the pitch...let's not mention it.

I have always been on Rickett's side, I never agreed with the negative views voiced on this board. But for heaven's sake, I never said people shouldn't voice their opinion. How the hell do you get hundreds of people to always agree on everything? It doesn't happen. So unless this becomes the Roogsy board, where people always agree with Roogsy, then expect some disagreements, expect some different opinions that are from left field and expect some disagreements.

For example, Colin Samuel. Should all those that said he should be gone, now be able to come back to the board after a long hiatus because while he was with the team, they shouldn't be posting? Or Welsh?

I was ragging on Mo at the beginning of the season, I readily admit it. Should I just stop posting until I admitted that he did a good job and NOW I can post on the board?

Somebody point me to the rules where it states that this board is only for sucking the genitalia of the players. I must have missed it when I signed up.

Sometimes people will have opinions that you feel are downright wrong....but who the hell are you to tell them they shouldn't have that opinion?

^^ I'm just wondering if the fact that Ricketts was called out on the board, for not delivering what was expected from him (up until the LA game) was a motivating factor for the lad.

Was he more determined to prove his detractors wrong on Saturday, and would he have delivered such a fine performance without that push?

Personally I dont think Ricketts got that much of a pasting from a minority on this board, in comparison to the shit that got slung at Welsh, Buddle, Samuel and now, Cunny.

Ricketts looked like he had something to prove on Saturday, and he answered his critics (in style), which is something the aforementioned players didnt do or havent done. This illustrates the kid has heart , grit and determination.

Full respect to the lad for proving his point, but again, would he have been as motivated to do so were it not for the fact that he was getting slightly chewed out on the board?

I agree that phrases such as 'this player is SHIT' are not productive and dont endear fans to the players, but comments such as Bobby's 'he needs to read the game better and lift his head up' were justified, it's not like players dont hear worse from their coaches when they are not producing.

Honestly what is said on here does not have an effect on RR.

He wanted and wants to play well coz he feels he can offer more and for the club and the fans but a few negative comments will not determine how he plays. He is still kinda young but still has been at a pretty high level so like i have said before fans saying this or that is nothing he has not heard or seen before.

Agreed....in fact the thread that started in criticism of Ricketts only showed that there was also a large support for the lad. And perhaps, if he knew about it, motivated him that extra little bit? Who knows. But what I do know is that it's ridiculous that there are STILL people who complain when someone posts a criticism of a player. I am not talking about excessive whining, that's just annoying. But at least justifiable, reasonable discussions from all points of view. Can people not handle that?

I really don't think there is anything wrong with disagreeing on these boards, it's the way some people go about it. I can name a couple of people who told me I have no clue about this game because I think Ricketts can do well in this league, and let me tell you, it wasn't in those words. It's the personal attacks that come out of the disagreements that is wrong, not the opinions. And the personal attacks aren't always towards other RPB members, they are also towards the players. These guys are humans just like us, and if we call them c*nts (my most dispised word) and if we attack them on a personal level on these boards then people have the right to be offended. We are all supporter's of this team and we all have opinions, that doesn't mean we have the right to offend people on a personal level.

Love it, wish there was more of it. Unfortunately aside from a few valid points here and there, most of the threads are filled with quite pointless and annoying as fuck comments. I don't just mean negatively either, there's people who don't know the in's and out's of the game and will make bold statements and can't back them up, good or bad. That's where I get frustrated and the reason I haven't participated in many threads in this section in months.

This is great news, cause the effect of message boards on players is something I'm unsure about. The internet wasnt even a word when I was going to Liverpool matches, and we just used to support the players 100% good or bad, and leave the coaching to the genius of Paisley.

The internet has given us a voice, but to be honest, I'm glad it's muted by common sense and professionalism.

Personal attacks have no place anywhere...I personally grow tired of them as well especially when they are obviously internet tough guys who when you meet them in person are a shadow of themselves online.

We're trying to get rid of that.

that's right you heard him, everyone that has an opinion that differs from the norm don't bother voicing it, you're ruining the echo chamber

why would we want to discuss things when we can just jerk each other off on the internet

Sure discuss things all you want, the point of my msg was is people are sooo quick to say one thing and criticize soemthing(this is not discussing by the way), and than even quicker to pull a complete 360 and say the opposite of whatever the topic may be. It makes me laugh and makes me question whether people really know what they're talking about.
