Don't know if the fire already have his rights, but they're apparently talking to the former Fulham striker.

He's a bit of a nutcase, but he'd light up MLS like nobody's business.

Should we try and grab him?

He will succeed in the MLS if he comes. I'd take the chance personally.

He just kinda faded and left at Fuham but every time i saw him play he looked to have good pace and strength.

Based on what ive seen he would destroy the mls but i havn't seen him play in years...

Sounds like he's had a rough couple of years...

On 25 January 2008, John joined Watford on a loan deal until the end of the 2007–08 season (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007-08_in_English_football), with the option of a permanent move after that. He struggled with his fitness during his time at the club, making only three starts and two substitute appearances. In April 2008 he returned to Fulham after tearing a thigh muscle.
On the 2008 transfer deadline day, John moved to NEC Nijmegen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NEC_Nijmegen) on a one-year loan deal, with the Dutch side also obtaining a transfer option.[7] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collins_John#cite_note-6) In Nijmegen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nijmegen) John suffered with continual problems. Although he was important as a substitute in two UEFA Cup (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_Cup) matches, he failed to make an impression in the Dutch league. In January 2009 he went on trial at Charlton Athletic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlton_Athletic_F.C.) but wasn't offered a contract. Back in Nijmegen he was suspended to the reserve squad by manager Mario Been (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mario_Been). On March 3 John returned to Fulham after both NEC and John didn't see any reason for continuing the loan. In March John requested to train with Dutch side Heracles Almelo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heracles_Almelo), alongside his brother Paddy (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Paddy_John&action=edit&redlink=1), till the end of the 2008/09 season. The request was denied because John had no intentions to play for Heracles in the next season.
In July 2009, Gary Johnson of Bristol City offered John a 3 year contract. He chose however to sign for Belgian (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belgium) Jupiler League (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jupiler_League) side KSV Roeselare (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KSV_Roeselare) signing a 2 year contract.[8] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collins_John#cite_note-KSVR_strikt_Nederlandse_international_Collins_John-7) On December 3 John was suspended and demoted to the reserve squad for disciplinairy reasons by manager Dennis van Wijk (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dennis_van_Wijk). On December 14 Roeselare terminated John's contract[9] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collins_John#cite_note-8).

Next to perhaps defence I think a goalscorer has to be up there on the priority list, but our current strikers ( well at least Barrett and Gerba ) are on alot of money so could we afford another high salary striker?

^ I like that he is only 24. He could be a long term striker in this league.

So younger and fitter than Gerba....and would more than likely be more prolific in front of net.

after reading Shaughno's post I'd rather not.

That and at first I thought this thread was about John Collins, who's not 24.

^TOBAR I do have to agree with you in part, but remember Amado had a very bad rep when he came and he seemed to be working great here, everyone deserves a chance to prove themselves.

^^

Is that not one of Preki's "Talents" , being a bit of a hard ass ?? Could drag him into shape

Maybe... but it's not just that he's out of shape. Part of it is attitude problems, part of it was injury and part of it was that he couldn't stay fit.

We also lost Winsper... so no fitness guru to whip him into shape.

Who knows...
