from the article:

The seats would be installed at the north end of the stadium before the start of the 2010 season. A preliminary budget indicates the price tag would work out to around $1,448 per seat.

let the speculation begin!!

(obviously that cost doesn't all have to come from the first season with them installed)

at $33 per seat per 15 games, that cost is paid off in just 3 seasons.

Lets see how this plays out...very eager to see the results ie if MLSE is expecting walk up crowds to buy these seats. I personally think that people who want to be at BMO on game day... get tickets...its not like the Leafs, at least historically, where demand is so much larger than supply...but I maybe wrong.

I think when they were throwing around the terms about the tickets they meant 'single game seats' rather than a pure 'walk up only' purchase...

Its just so much cheaper to have people buy them online, print them at their home, than having a bunch of kids making min wage selling them at the gate. MLSE knows money...

Also of note, even the Maple Leafs have trouble with walkup ticket sales. On any given game (save for the big ones (Habs/Sens/Pens on a Saturday night) you can find Leaf tickets at the box office - they're tickets that VIP's didn't use etc etc etc. Problem is, most 'walk up' fans aren't looking to pay $125 a seat or higher, as those are the tickets that are left...

I don't understand the math. How does 1249 seats add $70,000 in revenue? Is that per game? Or do they mean net earnings at the end of the year?

If you figure these seats will go be up for between $300 and $400, actually revenue on these seats will be at least $375,000 annually, probably more (my guess $500k). And that is before you account for parking, merchandise and concessions.

Maybe they're taking into account construction costs, added taxes, and added staff when doing their math...???

I'm totally just guessing....

i think the 70000 might just be the 7% that BMO Field gets of the revenue.
if my memory serves me, 93% of ticket rev goes to TFC (or CSA if it's a nats game).

somebody do the math

Revenue is a number unto itself. Constructions costs fall under expenses, which the article tells us is around $2million. Actually it says costs are $1448 per seat which on 1249 seats comes to a little over $1.8mill.

So the $70k is a little headscratching for me. This being an upgrade or investment in the stadium they don't own I guess muddies up how they do the accounting for the cost. I am not an accountant (despite what Sparky may tell you) so I don't know.

$70,000 per game works out to $56 per person in the new 1,249-seat stand. Perhaps that revenue estimate is based on a combination of ticket price, concession spending and parking.

It's per season.
That is the share that the Exhibition board is looking to make. And for all intents and purposes is the only one that matters for approval.

yup. but don't forget it's actually 1362 seats because they are putting 113 seats from the edge of the beer garden down to almost field level.
