from NUFC.com:

Former Newcastle United coach John Carver is back in football, after taking the job as assistant to Paul Mariner at Plymouth Argyle.

Carver has been without a club since resigning as the coach of MLS side Toronto last April and his new role quickly puts him in opposition to United, who travel to Home Park in the FA Cup early next month.

An apprentice at SJP, Carver appeared in the Football League for Cardiff City and served the Magpies as Sir Bobby Robson's number two, having also coached our reserve and academy sides.

After taking caretaker charge of the first team for one game in September 2004, he left United when Graeme Souness took over as manager.

Good for him I guess but I am pretty confident they will be playing in League One next season.

Hopefully he finds the League 1 refs more to his liking.

^ It's an MLS assistant coach becoming a manager and an MLS head coach becoming an assistant manager.... it is hard to tell....

Maybe it's just everyone finding their right level.
