View Full Version : Should TFC have a star over their badge-for the Canadian Championship?

To be honest it was a huge achievement and they've earned the right to have a star over the badge. They showed perseverance and it would show great recognition to soccer in Canada.

I actually think it's stupid that MLS let teams use one star per championship.... It should be either one star per 5 titles or one star per CONCACAF CL win.

Canadian Championship is a bit too easy to win right now to warrant a star... BUT I wouldn't mind them being able to wear a 'scudetto' of sorts on their shirt this year, like a Canadian shield patch or something.

Torcida

Naravno. Of Course.

There should be at leats one for each Canadian Championship they win.

Agreed on all counts except the one star per championship. The league is quite new and DC have the most titles at 4. When you get to 5, a somewhat larger star can be used. That system should be good up until 15 championships or so. That'll take a while for anyone to achieve.

5 titles? That sounds like a lot of work, it will take forever to get a cool looking star on our badge if we go this route.

I don't want to demean the Canadian Championship, but I think this is a ridiculous thread. It's a tournament they should've won each and every year as both MTL and VAN were in a lower tier league. Now, if they were to go on and win the CCL title, that would in itself merit a star. Wining a 3-horse regional tournament pales in comparison.

SmokedPanda

Well it would give MLSE and adidas a chance to sell supporters an exclusive jersey.
I'll take 5% for royalties. Thanks.

If anything, keep it simple and only during the NCC matches for the defending champs. Because it's a Canadian tourney we should use a lil maple leaf or something. I don't think we should use stars for this because a maple leaf is more of a Canadian thing, but we could use a moose, sasquatch, goose, sea gull, lobster or even squirrel. I'd say a beaver but I don't think Roots would be too impressed. lol. Either way keep it simple and only for the defending champs of the NCC.

When TFC wins the MLS Cup, then add a small star for the 1st time, and then leave it the same until they win 5 championships. From there upgrade the colours of the stars as mentioned before to keep the kit looking simple and classy.

To be honest it was a huge achievement and they've earned the right to have a star over the badge. They showed perseverance and it would show great recognition to soccer in Canada.

LOL !

Almost all the players that played that night for Montreal played in the USL final too...were they still resting their A-team during that?

Montreal started their "B" team. They subbed in their "A" players when they realized what was going on. People forget that the final goals to put Toronto on top was against some of their better players.

I'm against any form of recognition that would allow our team to wear 1 and Montreal to wear 8. Why are people always trying to make up new crap? Do they think the game is lacking traditions or something?

There are lots of teams with a long and glorious history. If that's what you like, follow one of them. Don't try to invent a history for a 3 year old club. Enjoy the fact that you get to see the beginning of the franchise. You get to see a lot of the team's firsts. 30 years from now people will envy you (if you're not dead).

I actually think it's stupid that MLS let teams use one star per championship.... It should be either one star per 5 titles or one star per CONCACAF CL win.

Canadian Championship is a bit too easy to win right now to warrant a star... BUT I wouldn't mind them being able to wear a 'scudetto' of sorts on their shirt this year, like a Canadian shield patch or something.

that's somewhat reasonable

Not a big fan of stars.
Something inherently commie about them.

shouldnt get a star for Canada Championship because its only got 3 teams, its really to easy.

Only should get a star for winning Champions League or MLS cup i think.

I am suprised at the negativity toward the star idea? I am wondering is it becuse the whole star thing originates from Italy?

a star for beating up on a USL bench / CSL Trois Rivies Attack side. The miracle in MTL was not a miracle. No star neccessary. What's next? a star for scoring a goal in the loss v Real Madrid?

YES. And I won't vote for Rocco Rossi for mayor of Toronto either. :D
