We were told last week that we would be contacted by the middle of this week (tomorrow?) about buying season's tickets. They told of 200 seats in the $1000/per areas.

I thought a new thread to spread any news would be appropriate and appreciated, by me at least.

Was it not 400 seats as per below email? You never know as xmas is coming up and some people just will not be able to justify $1000 for even one ticket.

This year we have over 400 Full Season Seats available (mostly in the Dark Grey sections) and approximately 2000 Partial Packs!

Even more depressing is that TorontoCelt has the same appointment time as me, meaning there is more than one guy doing this at their office. Sooooo many potential people ahead of me.... ugh, time to break out the Marlies cap....(which I got for free last year, for the record)

Thursday december 3rd at 2pm. jesus! that's tomorrow. need to start planning shit and contacting people.

i bought a marlie pack for season two, and when they called for season 3, there were multiple partial (non marlie) packs available as well as dark grey seasons, so if you got marlie packs last year, you'll hopefully be able to avoid them this year.

Consistent with limits placed on Season Seat Holders, members of the GOLD Waiting List are able to purchase either two (2) Season Tickets, or the equivalent of two (2) season tickets in Partial Packages (subject to availability). This limit is set so that more people get access to our tickets!
Additional information:

All seats will be sold at the New Season Price.

If you purchase Season Tickets, you will “graduate” off of the GOLD Waiting list and will no longer be eligible for Partial Packs.

5 full days between my time and the earliest I have seen so far. 5 days times 8 hours times 4 tickets reps per hour equals 160 pairs sold before I get a shot. Does that mean I can avoid the Marlies pack this year, or do I have to face another winter of spending money on something that I have no interest in. Fcuk

Not to mess up your mind or anything but I'm pretty sure that they aren't doing 1 appointment per hour. Could be every half hour (or some are even on the 15's).

That said, not everyone opts for a season ticket. Last year, once the cheap ones were out, many gold listers opted for the partial packs. Some bought singles too.

If I remember right, I was about 7 days behind on the gold list last year and that morning they sold out of their final pair of season seats (Field seats and Club reds were all that were left in the morning). Many Marlies' packs were available but all of the TFC packs were gone.

We got great seats in 110 though and through the exchange got to all the games.

There is hope.

This feels like high school math class all over again.

They have 2,900 single tickets available as part of a ST, PP or All Seasons (400+1000+1500).

Since they are selling in pairs, that's about 1,450 calls necessary to sell them all. That's a variable number though since some might buy a couple of packs or singles.

If calls start this afternoon and they have 5-6 reps working 4 appointments per hour over an 7-8 hour workday. Here is my guess as to what will happen depending on your appointment (I have way too much time on my hands)

Thursday afternoon - pick whatever you like
Friday - You should still have a good crack at cheaper season seats. Later in the day you might start to weigh expensive seats vs a Partial
Monday - Expensive STs vs Partial
Tuesday - Expensive STs vs Partial
Wednesday - Most Partials will be gone by the afternoon, I would expect expect a few expensive STs (Clubs and Fields) vs All Seasons
Thursday on through to Monday - All Seasons will be left

first year bought single game tix, got on Red list.
Second year, got call and picked up Marlies pack x 2
Third year, turned down $$$ seasons, bought 'Friendly' partial (other two partials N/A).

This year I'm expecting a better selection of STs and partials to be available. Given the way things are I figure I'll get a better partial pack in a better (lighter grey) section and things ought to gradually improve in this fashion year after year until I'm eventually able to afford an available ST offer - or not.

They started calling today at 1pm - I don't think cheap season pairs will be kicking around on Monday...

My advice to anyone, is GET YOUR FOOT IN THE DOOR...

If on your call they offer up season tickets that too expensive for you, or offer up partial packs - ask if there is a single season ticket somewhere...

TFC want to rid the stadium of empty single seats... Purchasing that single gets you through the door, you are now a season seat holder, and then after next season, they'll be trying to pair up single tickets...

You might find yourself with a season ticket pair a lot quicker than buying partials each year and hoping for a pair to come available...

^ the other factor though is that the new north stand will likely be offered up in the season ticket package next year.

Last year they had 400 seasons available to the gold list. This year the number is the same. Even if they release just 60% of those new seats, that's an additional 600+ in 2011 or over 1,000 in total (with a similar renewal rate)

I've got my fingers crossed!;) Unfortunately I have to head out immediately after my ticket appointment. I'll be sure to report what I scooped up later tonight.

FWIW, full seasons in a light grey section would obviously be my first choice. If only dark greys are available, however, I will stick with partial packs. I am very nearly at the front of the Gold list, so I'm 99% sure I can at least purchase what I had last year - i.e. a pair of light-grey seats in each of the season opening and season ending packs. It is much cheaper for me to purchase partial packs in the light greys and augment my packs with single-game purchases than to go the dark grey route. With the north end being added to BMO, single-game purchases should be much easier this season.

Not sure if there was a restriction of only 2 per person, but you're allowed to own up to 4 seats. They have a number of singles they ware trying to off-load so it makes sense they would allow someone to add a single to a pair.

My appointment was at 4:30pm earlier today. My choices essentially boiled down to medium grey seasons or partial packs, and I went the latter route because I was able to get light greys. This may sound uber-cheap on my part, but there's no sense in me buying more expensive full seasons when I can augment my packs will single-game purchases. With stadium expansion on the way, I don't anticipate tickets will be quite as scarce this season.

Congratulations. I have a feeling that having three seats side-by-side in partial packs really paid off for you. I'm guessing that the club didn't want to break up the odd number of season tickets.

I just got a call from MLSE, thanking me for being a supporter of MLSE teams. I corrected him, stating that I was a partial pack Gold Lister. I had extreme hopes that he was actually calling me earlier than my alloted time (Mon, 2:25pm) because maybe they'd found some supporters seasons tickets underneat the cushions in the couch, or perhaps tossed out some scalpers.

But no...He was wondering if I was interested in some Marlies tickets in combination with Leafs tickets for the holidays, maybe to put under the Christmas tree.

I told him that unless purchasing such a package of tickets would get me nearer the Holy Grail of a pair in the South Stands, I wasn't interested...all my disposable income that I may have will be spent on (fingers crossed) a pair of light greys.

He persisted, saying that this is a great way to get Leafs Tickets, and joing the Leafs Nation, but I said that I'd only been to one Leafs Game since Borje Salming played for them, and that was because I'd lucked in to a pair of corporate seats for a company I was working for at the time.

He wished me luck getting my TFC tickets, and that was it.

Any other Gold list people getting calls like this?

^yes, they do. light and med they have single seats for seasons, no pairs in that section (only partial pack pairs). they do have seasons, good seats, in the expensive sections.

i managed to buy a pair of seats, in the exact same seats for all 3 partial packs (not the ransom packs). so essentially i have a pair of seasons on my gold list account, however technically they aren't seasons... as they will be released at the end of the year. those packs were all in the lowest price level also.

yes they do as long as they dont have something like 6 seats each or something along those lines. There is no guarentee they would be able to get an additional seat though, it depends where they are on the list, what was available and what they could afford. Also it would always be in his name as you cannot transfer ownership anymore. If you get offered one this week and you can afford it I would go that route as at least then it is yours.

^ I would wager that they felt that it looked too much like a Personal Seat License benefit.

You can sell the rights to your tickets if you hold a PSL. In fact, you can sell them for a profit if you can get it.

Someone was probably concerned that PSL holders for the Leafs and Raptors might start thinking, WTF? TFC fans can transfer (and profit) without having to pay the PSL fee?

NOTE: I am NOT advocating for a PSL. Cripes, yearly increases are hard enough to swallow.

My unofficial guess is that you will have a choice of All Seasons and that's it. I do think you'll see them open up the north stand to red listers for single game matches though.

I posted back on page 2 the way I thought it would break down. I've been wrong before though... ask my wife :)

We are now obviously into "Monday"

Thursday afternoon - pick whatever you like
Friday - You should still have a good crack at cheaper season seats. Later in the day you might start to weigh expensive seats vs a Partial
Monday - Expensive STs vs Partial
Tuesday - Expensive STs vs Partial
Wednesday - Most Partials will be gone by the afternoon, I would expect expect a few expensive STs (Clubs and Fields) vs All Seasons
Thursday on through to Monday - All Seasons will be left

I just got my call, and there were a couple of single seasons left, and pairs in the expensive areas - Red and above.

I got two partial packs - Home opener and home closer, in Section 111, both of them in row 32. Three seats for each partial pack.

So, you'll see me in Row 32, seats 18, 19, and 20 for one set, and 14, 15, and 16 for the other. Oh, and the three of us sing, chant, and do The Massive. The only reason we need seats at all is to put our beer on while we hold our scarves high.

Getting a little closer to the Hallowed ground that is the South Stand.

I got on the waiting list before the first ball was kicked, and in the Fall, they came calling and there was only the All Seasons tickets left. However, back then, they divided the season into 2, not three. After bit of a think, I took two All Seasons.

That got me on to the Gold list. Oh, and my firend, the guy who occupies the other seat of the pair took the Marlies tickets, as his girlfriend loves hockey (she's been to a few TFC games, and she loves TFC, too). We were in Section 219.

Last year, we moved to 111, row 29, and got three tickets in one partial pack - the home closer.

This year, two partial packs in 111.

So, getting better each year. Perhaps next year will see us get full seasons in 111, or another supporters section.

So don't knock the All Season partial pack as a method of getting a foot in the door. You might be able to find a charity (Big Brothers or a local Boy Scout group, perhaps) who'd be happy to give you a tax receipt for the Marlies tickets.

I don't want to pay this Marlies bologna next year.. Then you read about people wanting to sell their seats or appointment times off to general public/users.. Who knows. I guess we'll see.

At least the other part of my 'pair' has a single elsewhere, so I could pick my own single up and try to relocate beside eachother. Odd stuff I tell you. What would you guys do in this position? Get both, or take the single and meet in the beer garden/invade the north stand?

If it were me and I wanted to save some money but get in on the SSH thing I would buy two light grey singles and deal with being separated for the year then during relocation next year move to a pair. I think it would be better than buying one single ticket and trying to double it next year because you still will be left with two singles (most likely extra one will be dark grey or red too) because you can only buy an extra ticket, if available, after you confirm that you are taking the 2010 seat again. maybe you guys already know this, but I just found out that you can add partial packs to your existing total enough to cover the entire season (upon availability). That is to say, last year I asked if I could pick up 2 home openers and 2 home finales, and I was told that I could not - I could only get 2 packs total. Now I can get as many packs as I like, as long as I'm only getting 2 seats in each (so, up to 6 packs - 2 each of D, E, and F).

Anyway, short story long I got 2 x D and 2 x E in 104, row 18. Away support has got Tobor to deal with now.

I got the impression that there is a fair number of STs left, but all dark grey and up - not in my budget.

This has been a good day for Tobor... a bad day for travelling fans.

Lots of all season sports packs are left at all prices.

- some partial packs available, only a couple of seats left in 111, mostly in 104 and 105 if you are looking for cheap seats
- all kinds of Marlies packs... just in case you like that sort of thing

My appt is not till Friday, and from the sounds of it, all will left is singles and Marlies!!! Can someone explain to me how it's beneficial to buy a single ST seat, and how this will help next?
Last year I got stuck with the marlies pack just to get on the gold list. I was really hoping for ST's or at least partial, but doesn't seem like they will last till Friday!!

If you get a single ST, you get on the platinum list which means you can likely pick up another ST next year and/or relocate.

Not sure if that is a benefit if you usually go to the game with someone. You still have to find another ticket for them.

I opted just for a Partial in 111. I was prepared to pay for STs in dark grey or red but we had seats in 221 before and anyone who has been up there knows that the bugs can be an annoyance for most of the game. Reds only came in sets of 3 or 1s.

My wager is that I'll move up by 150-200 places on the gold list next year AND that new North stand might open up. Therefore, to pay extra to be somewhere I didn't want to be for the chance at a relocation didn't make sense if I think I'll have a larger selection of STs next year.

Personal call though depending on your circumstances.

You could be waiting longer according to my account rep. I asked him about the North stands and he told me that they will not be used for season seat sales. When I asked if they were going to sell them as walk ups only, he replied by telling me that all the details haven't been ironed out yet, but insisted that they will very likely NOT be available to season seat holders. Maybe he was pushing a sale.......I bought! Section 109 row 32 seats 24and 25. I'm happy with that and will likely get to relocate to where I want to be next season so.....

I don't think he was pushing a sale.

The plan for 2010 is to open these up to Red Listers as much as possible. They have a ton of folks on that list who have never been to a game. I think they will have to pay for that along the lines of buying some type of "membership" to get front of the line access.

In 2011, the feedback I get is that the seats (or a portion thereof) will become part of the ST/Partial Pack offerings available to their Platinum, Gold and Red listers. This will enable more folks to move off the gold list, ensure guaranteed revenue and move some of the red listers into partial packs.

i had a shot at season's but at 969 a pop couldn't do it. i think part of availability is dependant on how many seats you have. MLSE won't break a 3 to sell 2 and leave a 1.
also my rep said there was a 94% renewal rate this year. anyone else confirmed that?
it seems like a lot of people are passing on marlies for a third year. especially given most of those packages aren't even in a "supporter" section. i.e. lower 110. i know i was in that position myself, not willing to recycle marlies tickets again this year upon delivery. with some ticket availability increasing it seems like some of the steam is coming out of the much talked about waiting list.
to jack the hype back up i'd think they need to increase the supporter section again and possibly looking at pricing.

My call was at 4:30. I was told the same as you. I picked up a single season ticket in 121 and the home opener sports package (fucking Marlies again) in the top of 111. I feel slightly used and abused in having to take a single season ticket, but, I am have now been promoted off the gold list, so the pain will soon go away.

2 questions of people who have had their calls.

1. How long did your call take? Were you rushed to make a decision?

2. Do you have to pay on the spot? Or are there payment plans and the like?

Ok, four questions.

I have a feeling that this could be expensive, by the time Monday rolls around.

Ticket Exchange was well worth it for me this year - I had a marlies pack yet still made almost every game. As a buyer you are purchasing for face value..as a seller you lose a small percentage of the face value of the ticket.

I did the same thing last year and this year I got into medium greys and saved $600 so I don't have to sell very many at all to make it affordable for me. My work/life schedule always makes it impossible for me to attend at least a couple games a year anyways so works out for me.

Dark. Gray. Season.

I did it again.

Sounds like you got the last dark grey single.

I ended up getting a couple partial packs. 3 seats in 219 row 8, and 2 in 110 row 9. I fell victim to the hostage marlies pack again because I liked 110 so much last year. Hoping the supporters section will spill down in 110 like it did last year.

Looks like all thats left are red single seasons, and field seats.

For partial packs, there are some carlsberg cup packs in 104/105, and dark grey partials for all game packages (222-224).

For ransom packs, there's a good assortment. Shouldnt have a problem getting a pair in the light or medium grays. If you want in a supporters section, you can get into upper half of 110 this way.

Out of curiosity, in 110, are seats 29-30 closer to 111, or 109? :D

Truthfully... those seats up there are the driest in the house (both figuratively and literally). You're covered by the roof, but boy is it quiet. I paid the same amount for a ransom pack in 110 rather than the strictly TFC pack up there. For a rowdy drunk such as myself, its worth it :).

You've got bad information.

29-30 are closer to 111. The numbers read from left to right... sort of like words do :)

We had 110, row 11 seats 25-26 last year on a partial pack. They were right by Wayne at the entrance to sections 110 and 111.

I bought additional seats in 110 and 111 quite a bit on the exchange and the atmosphere varies. On the dates for our partial, we could stand in row 11 and there were no issues.

On other dates, it was an issue. The lower we got in that section the more obvious the expectation to sit.

You are going to love the ability to get out of there quick for concessions, washrooms and at the end of the game.

I disagree.

As a platinum and gold lister, I'm glad they keep them separate. I didn't have to buy all three partials, but did because they were seats I was eyeballing when doing the season seat swaps.

If they made them into seasons, they wouldn't get released for next season... simple as that. You have to keep some open for others, and not have them all as seasons.

I think it's great that they have so many partial packs, and in decent or affordable locations. I once had partials in section 126 in row 3, last year I had partial in section 111, next it will be a different section.

---the seats i picked up from the gold list, the 3 partials packs in same seats/section for the full year would NOT have been available come my gold appointment list. I doubt they would have even been around when I was on my platinum call for additional seats.

Pookie
12-11-2009, 05:07 PM
^ Agreed.

Lots of reasons from a business standpoint to keep partial packs.

1. 3 different people use that seat over the year. That means 3 different folks walk by the merchandise tents. How many jerseys can one fan buy? 3 could potentially buy 3.

2. Lower cost for the consumer but higher yield for the company. Dark Grey season is $969. The equivalent in Dark Grey Partial Packs (3 packs) is $1,113

3. Creates "scarcity" on season tickets. How many bought dark greys just to get seasons?

... personally, I like that there is the partial pack option. I skipped on seasons because the only available seats (during my appointment) were in bug country (top of 222 and 224). Instead, I got seats in 111... where I can stand and bring flags and get access to the exchange. Never missed a game last year (or the year before) and don't intend to miss any this year... even on a partial pack.

I imagine they will be available for a while. If I remember correctly, the club went through the entire red waiting list when trying to sell Marlies packs last year. I get the sense that a lot of people would rather try their luck at the gate or with scalpers than be forced to buy Marlies tickets.

You know what I don't understand though..

Given that the Marlies tickets are the 'bad' here, You can still get 6 games for a buck more really, in a light grey section (compared to Partial in dark grey at 354)

So what's the big deal? Just that you are getting the Marlies tickets absorbed into the cost.. I can see that.

I guess we'll see come Monday, but worst case scenario, I moved up some 400 spots which is a positive considering expansion, etc next year. At least I'm there, and have a spot all year long (Well, to take 1 partial pack that is)

i canceled it because me + visa = stupid
so i guess i'm sucking up to people back home about letting me use their visa so i can get charged to it in order to send a cheque (not sure why i can not just send one, but rules are rules)

Paper is nothing these days, It's all plastic or electric :)

Can someone explain to me the issue with bugs probem in section 222, 223, 224?
I almost bought seats there... Thx

Had my appt earlier today, and here's the status:
All TFC partials are gone.
Only Field Seasons available
Lots of Marlies packs.

I've been on waiting list for a few years, and I was really hoping that being on Gold list would have given me a chance at Seasons.
I had to bite the bullet and buy Field Seats to get moved to Platinum list. I will try to sell some/most of these to help with the cost, but it seemed today that this was the only way to get season tix in the next few yrs.

Hoping now that seat relocation will get me cheaper seats next year. Anyone tried this approach or has advice?

I ended up grabing two partial packs w/Marlies tix. The Rep i dealt with was pretty cool tho, so instead of giving me two tickets to twelve Marlie games he gave me four tickets to six games....Bash the Marlies all you want, its still a pretty decent night out if your with the boys!!

I had seats at the top of 224 and aside from the price loved it. There was one game when there were a lot of bugs flying around, but only one that I can remember. A small price to pay for many afternoons of shade and shelter.

bugs were everywhere in some early games this season and last season.. i sit 12 rows from the pitch, lower west side, and they were there at a couple games over the years!

We had seats in 221 and games in May were particularly uncomfortable.

The bugs didn't bite just flew up your nose, in your ear and in your eyes. Bring hoodie.

Forgive me for changing the topic here :)

I picked up a single seat in 109 this year and I'm just wondering how difficult it will be to change to a pair in the mid/light grey range for the 2011 season?

That was one of my options, but I heard it maybe very hard for you to pick up another seat. You would have had to buy two single seats, in order to be able to relocate both next year.

I opted for buying a pair of field seats... Hoping to relocate them to cheaper pair next year.

Can anyone shed some light on these strategies?

had my apt a few mins ago.

picked up an all sports pack in section 110 and marlies seats center row 3. it worked out well for me because my cousin loves the leafs/marlies so there is one xmas gift off my list and i was able to move away from dreadful 104 to the greatness of 110. i paid $100 more, but it was worth it for me to get what i got. overall i am overly pleased with the outcome compared to last year.

I have paid the ransom... again :(
Given the choice of a dark grey no ransom pack F for $405. or a ransom pack B in the light greys for $355.... well it was a no brainer.

Especially since the ransom pack was in the south end!
Time to change my signature to Section 111, Row 30, Seat 11.

I could have two ransom packs but can't justify the cost given the cost of travelling that I incur each game I attend.
By Plane, Train or Car... no game is to far.
But we gotta watch those pennies.

Answer to a few FAQ...
Q: If I don't buy when on the Gold List what happens to my standing on the list?
A: I was told you would stay on the gold list but most likely get dropped to the bottom of it behind people who are buying.

Q: Can Marlie Tickets be returned for credit &/or resale like TFC tickets can?
A: No can do. The demand is simply not there hence the ransom pack scheme. The suggestion is that if you are not going to use the tickets contact a charitable organization (Big Brothers was mentioned... kinda ironic say what ) and in some cases the charities may issue a tax receipt for some amount as a thank you.

Q: When can I expect my tickets and when do the Marlie games start?
A: Marlie tickets should arrive within a few days. First game is Jan. 24th, 2010.

Q: As a partial pack holder I got little "love" from the club... no swag, no freebies... is this gonna change?
A: No. But we do appreciate your business.

that's kind of bs
i guess that seniority thing means thing when not buying huh
well not once did i see anything anywhere that stated i must have a credit card in order to purchase seasons.
that is pretty upsetting in my mind. attempting to hold back on the freaking out.
not impressed at all.
